Well, we try our best to inline our standards with the scripture. As far as the Biblical standards go, we have specific scriptures for. Anything in addition falls under the category of Hebrews 13:17. However our pastoral standards we do not enforce on anyone outside of our church.

If my wearing my hair down causes my pastor to sin..my pastor has problems of the nature he should be stepping down and putting himself under another pastor.

And that is what the word "offend" means in this passage. I'm getting the idea that you have no idea how to actually study the Word, or keep it in context.

This passage you're using to justify your strict man made standards is a passage referrring to eating meat that has been sacrified to idols. The church is being instructed that eating this meat is not sin, but there are those among the church who have left the worship of those idols behind. If eating that meat would in any way cause them to stumble and go back to their former ways, and another Christian knowing the struggle they faced, ate that meat around them, THAT is a sin.

I don't believe anyone would have said anything to you, especially my Pastor ... while he may be conservative in his views, he is a very well balanced man and is not swift to assume the worse about people.

We have new converts in our church, and some of them doesn't look exactly like a "seasoned saint" (if you will) ... Don't take me wrong our church doesn't shun those who don't understand the Holiness standards. We have several young ladies in our church who came to the Lord within the last year or so, who before cut their hair, and things of this sort, but within a years time their hair hasn't grown to the length of some of our other ladies, but at any rate our women doesn't wear their hair down ... So you can't really tell the length of it.

The one being "offended" is the "weaker" of the brothers. It should not be our goal to be weaker, but to become stronger. We need to grow beyond the place where another church's "bobbed hair" or televisions offends us.

My Pastor is well balanced ... believe or it not he served as Presbyter of section 7 in AL district for 29 years (not saying that alone makes him well balanced, but since there are so many on AFF who are caught up with the UPC spirit, I felt the need to mention that) So he doesn't teach anything contrary to God's Word.

Is there a verse in there about, "well, you can't get to heaven with a bad attitude or hatred in your heart, oughta been holiness a long time ago drinking of the wine!"

Welllll, you can't get to heaven with a heart full of hate, no you won't get in the ole' pearly gate, oughta been holiness a long time ago drinking of the wine!

Greetings to you all, just curious have any of you ever heard this song?

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
You're doing mighty wrong;
God gave it for a glory
And you should wear it long .
You spoil your lovely hair, girls,
You keep yourself in style;
Before you bob your hair, girls,
Just stop and think a while.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It is an awful shame
To rob the head God gave you
And bear the flapper's name.
You're taking off your covering,
It is an awful sin;
Don't never bob your hair, girls,
Short hair belongs to men.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It does not look so nice;
It's just to be in fashion,
lt's not the Lord's advice.
And every time you bob it
You're breaking God's command
You cannot bob your hair, girls
And reach the Glory land.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It's not the thing to do;
Just wear it, always wear it,
And to your Lord be true.
And when before the judgment
You meet your Lord up there,
He'll say, "Well done, for one thing,
You never bobbed your hair.

And you use this for Praise and Worship?

We wouldn't say nothing derogatory about you, but if you really had a Christian spirit like you claim ... you wouldn't want to do anything to put a question mark on yourself or offend those in leadership.

1 Corinthians 8:12-13 (King James Version)
12 But when ye sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.

13 Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world standeth, lest I make my brother to offend.

I've preached in liberals churches before, but I didn't get up and preach standards or anything of that nature. I've preached for pastors who have TVs in their homes, and they know my stand on TV. This is something you should practice Sister ... learn to use strategy Sis. when dealing with people ...

I want an answer. You're saying that you're proud there are no women in your church with bobbed hair. Show me where in the Bible it says that I'll go to hell if I cut my hair, or wear jeans. And I'd like to know what you think the gospel is as well.

And how do you know I haven't been to an alter? How do you know I haven't been filled with the geniune baptism of the Holy Ghost? And my point is exactly that, I don't need anyone to tell me if it's right or wrong, because God does, and God will tell the next person over as well. And the one next to that. No man needs to preach how to dress, God's proven Himself to be quite capable of making sure things are lined up just so.

As for my blood being on my pastor's hands, I'd suggest not making judgement (wow that word seems to come up a lot..) where you have no knowledge.
This is par for the course for our Mr Smith. He exhibited the same sort of "argument" in his "article"

A Priori Argument:- More fancy Latin words, literally meaning, "from that which comes before." In argument it is where a person, in an effort to prove a further point assumes the validity of some other point. This other point, it is asked, should be accepted as one that may yet be proven, or which the propounder advances as axiomatic. In other words, one is asked to accept something as knowledge without the benefit of any prior experience (empirical evidence), this knowledge, it is said, comes about a priori. This approach is often the only way to begin any argument, but should not be resorted to during the course of argument; further, one should always bear in mind, that the resolution to any argument, must, of necessity, be dependent on the "beginning assumptions." While there are some things in this world that simply must be accepted without proof as being axiomatic, an assumption or assumptions always weaken one's argument and should be eschewed as a bad practice.

Hebrews 13:17
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls.

Our people adhere to the Biblical standards taught, and also the pastoral standards set in our church.
It's still just a man made standard. You can't make up what is Holy to God or not. That's not holiness nor separation. That's sin, adding to God's word. The pharisees had that problem too.

And to boot...if what we teach about hair in 1Corinthians is true, that it is her covering then she should wear it DOWN like a veil especially at church or when she is praying

According to one dictionary, here are some definitions:
a pri·o·ri
1. Proceeding from a known or assumed cause to a necessarily related effect; deductive.
2.
a. Derived by or designating the process of reasoning without reference to particular facts or experience.
b. Knowable without appeal to particular experience.
3. Made before or without examination; not supported by factual study.

The term itself is used in several genres:

If they don't adhere to the standards taught in our church, then they are subject to open rebellion against the Pastor, and Jesus said that is as of the sin of witchcraft.
Are you a preacher?!?! Actually Jesus did NOT say this. It was Samuel and it was NOT for disobeying a pastor. It was for disobeying the voice of God

1Sa 15:20 And Saul said to Samuel, Yes, I have obeyed the voice of Jehovah, and have gone the way which Jehovah sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have completely destroyed the Amalekites.
1Sa 15:21 But the people took from the spoil, of the flocks and herd, the best of the things devoted to sacrifice to Jehovah your God in Gilgal.
1Sa 15:22 And Samuel said, Does Jehovah delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices as in obeying the voice of Jehovah? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice! To listen is better than the fat of rams!
1Sa 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idol-worship. Because you have rejected the Word of Jehovah, He has also rejected you from being king!

If a Pastor is teaching you false doctrine or doctrines of men, that is NOT NOT NOT the voice of God. Sorry. One may want to obey so as to not rock the boat, but this is NOT of God to come up with man made rules and force them on people and then claim spiritual authority to do it or accuse someone of witchcraft....

We don't sing that song as a worship song ...

Our worship songs consist of songs out of the Sing Unto The Lord hymnal and chorus like

"One, one, one, one way to God, one, one, one, one way to God, one, one, one, one way to God; baptized in Jesus Name!"

"Jesus on the mainline tell Him what you want"

"Satisfied, satisfied, oh He said He'd be my comforter, He said He'd be my guide, been baptized in Jesus Name, spoke in tongues when the Holy Ghost came every since that wonderful day my soul's been satisfied"

And many other old time Pentecostal songs.

Let's look at a verse preceding Heb 13:17 same subject

Heb 13:7 Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.

It's talking about leaders who speak the WORD, not man made doctrine. Personally though I think if they don't like it they should leave, but as is often the case in some churches they have been controlled and manipulated for so long and there is a psychological factor that has been drummed into their psyche, that if they leave they will be lost. They fear being lost. They fear being treated like trash because they dared to leave the fold, even if they go to another Oneness church. It's like some women in abusive relationships....many of them stay out of some delusional sense of loyalty or for fear or some sort of co-dependency thing.

I know people going to churches like that that do not agree with pastor, don't want to be in a strict church like that, yet they won't leave for another church that is oneness but not as strict. So they keep private their lives for the most part and just not rock the boat on the outward, but often behind closed doors they have TVs in the closet, watch DVDs on the computer or watch streaming video etc

I enjoy some of the old hymnal songs, but do you guys sing new modern worship songs also? I like a balance between both.

Proverbs 6: 16-19. How do you like this card , Jack???? LOL!

I honestly think that at times we need to change our style so we can appeal to our visitors. I am not saying compromise but make our church "visitor friendly". The visitors don't feel comfortable gathering up front around the altar area singing out of a song book.

Hold it Jack,

I'm not sowing discord among the "brethren" ... you're the one accusing me of having no creditability and all this none sense because I pulled away from your organization after their vote in Tampa.

I think it's YOU who is causing the discord .. because this thread was not meant for what it's turned out to be. I just wanted to know if other Apostolics ever heard this song before ... instead YOU started in about organizational hog wash.

My advice to you is, since you feel so strongly about your fellowship be loyal to them, and pay your dues, give to their missions, give to your district, give to your section. As for me ... I'm not subject to that anymore.

Furthermore let me encourage you to read Thomas Fudge's book "Christianity without the Cross" ... you'll find out a lot you probably don't know about the organzation in question conerning savational issues.

And the scripture is plain with long haired men.

Chorus: Drinking of the wine, wine, wine, drinking of the wine, the Holy Ghost wine. You oughta been Holiness a long time ago ... drinking of the wine!"

The term itself is used in several genres:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_priori
In this case it would be a priori fallacy

SO they will be fellowshipping with liberal backsliders? :blah:blah:blah

Yet they have to pull out of the UPC.....

She doesn't have a clue what she's talking about. While the Summit flyer is being mailed out to LIBS, CONS, etc ... just tell me how many LIBS is going to show up at a CONS meeting?

The entire committee is made up of men who are known for their teachings against worldliness and uplifting Holiness.

Prax guess you missed the post where he runs off women with "bobbed" hair.

Apparently Libs can only be preached to over the internet not by TV or in person.
I'm quickly catching up. What I find funny is if I enter into a discussion near the end and ask questions already answered, people get mad and tell me to read the whole thread. Then if I do that and respond to posts along the way they get mad because I am responding to threads that are old.

But I'm almost there :-)

Dear Sir,

With all due respect compared to your position shown here, the vast majority in attendance you will hold to be either liberal, very liberal, super liberal, or democrat.

Caston, why don't yall get Bro. Anthony Mangun to preach? He is man that preaches with passion about the apostolic doctrine. He has an unmatched burden for reaching the lost when he is preaching. I think he is a great addition to any conference.

My righteous indignation is boiling right now, and I'd love to tell you what I really think of you ... do you have IM or something?

I won't do it on this forum because it's against the rules.

Saying that we believe in a different god. Note we are not pagans we believe in the One True and Living God; Jesus Christ the Almighty, that which was, and is, and is to come.

We squarely use the KJV and believe it IS the infallible Word of God ...

My, my, you're saying some fighting words I tell you ...
Well what difference does it make? You call anyone that does not believe like you do Liberal....a pejorative for the mostly moderate and conservatives that don't believe like you do about using TV for outreach and then you called them all BACKSLIDDEN....

Caston, have you done that to other members here yet? I mean like cuss at them or call them names but only in private?

I hope not. I am assuming that is not what you meant by the above. I respect that you are keeping the rules, but I'd like to think that you also agree with the rules and follow them not just because it would mean you get banned but because they are right...the right thing to do or not do. Sure we all have our moments, but we should not justify it. Agreed?

It's not a CONs meeting. It's an ULTRA MY WAY OR HELL, CON meeting. :pirate

BTW I did not change the thread title....I often have but I did not come up with that genius lol

Many Cons were for Res 4. Just because of that one point does not make them a liberal and there are others that are NOT liberal but moderate.

Anyways, why invite the backsliding libs to it?

I removed everyones quotes and the requotes. I just think that was too far. Let's deal with what each other actually says.

Uh, with the exception of what Caston said near the end they are all soft deletes and if the admin feels it's ok to return fine. Castons should have been a soft delete but I messed up.

But I feel the Admin will agree with me on this. Sorry and thanks for the understanding
