Greetings to you all, just curious have any of you ever heard this song?

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
You're doing mighty wrong;
God gave it for a glory
And you should wear it long .
You spoil your lovely hair, girls,
You keep yourself in style;
Before you bob your hair, girls,
Just stop and think a while.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It is an awful shame
To rob the head God gave you
And bear the flapper's name.
You're taking off your covering,
It is an awful sin;
Don't never bob your hair, girls,
Short hair belongs to men.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It does not look so nice;
It's just to be in fashion,
lt's not the Lord's advice.
And every time you bob it
You're breaking God's command
You cannot bob your hair, girls
And reach the Glory land.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It's not the thing to do;
Just wear it, always wear it,
And to your Lord be true.
And when before the judgment
You meet your Lord up there,
He'll say, "Well done, for one thing,
You never bobbed your hair.

Actually it always sang at camp meeting ... everyone loved it you know. One church in particular in Florida, when I go preach for them, they always ask me to sing "It's All In Him" and "Why Do You Bob Your Hair Girls?" ... and well, last time I was there I sang "WDYBYHG?" and one of the brothers got up and started running around the church. LOL ... Glory!

Are you a preacher? What kind of license did you have? Did you drop it because somebody told you to?
You can expect persecution when you stand for righteousness. Don't let these natterers dismay or disway you.
That song is from back in the thirties I think. Didn't know it was sung anymore.

Bullwinkle, why its nice to meet your aquaintance. While I may agree that the song is neat, I do not think its neat to drop a license (unless of course you can't afford to make the dues). We can go into a long drawn out discussion as to why disunity is just as wrong as "women cutting thier hair", but in the end, no ones mind would be changed. LOL!

It is always frightening to see what some consider to be "persecution". It reminds me of Ruth Reider/Harvey posting a message on a board claiming persecution because of the people who were disagreeing with some of her ideas. Obviously she wouldn't be able to handle a commie or ChiCom jail..........

As for this song being from the 30's.... I think that is where it needed to stay. :)

And bear the flapper's name.

Short hair belongs to men.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It does not look so nice;

lt's not the Lord's advice.
And every time you bob it
You're breaking God's command
You cannot bob your hair, girls
And reach the Glory land.

I know by now I am probably way off topic as I havent read forward but this struck me funny and I have to tell you this story..

When we lived in Ms. The church hubby attended.. I think some of them ran more than they sat... so we are at prayer meeting one night.. and all 4 of my kids were sitting and talking.. then praying.. well I noticed when they were talking it was an assumed real spiritual talk.. not just sitting and talking so we didnt interrupt. After they began praying.. one of the men in the building was running it was one of those totally hg blowout prayer meetings (I can actually say the running was in order this night) and all the sudden we hear this THUDDDDDDDD!!!

My husband stops praying and I hear half the men take off running but it wasnt in the hg for sure! So I looked back to see what was happening. My middle daughter had started running (this one was not raised anywhere near the church so this was all kind of new to her) and she ran smack into the wall!!!! When we asked her what happened she said well Mom, when I was talking to Zoey about it all she said is... God thinks we need to run with our eyes closed so he knows we are worshipping him!!! ROFL... SO I ran with my eyes closed but I couldnt see the wall!!!!! It was sad but yet we laughed for years over that one!!!!!:ursofunny:ursofunny

By the Way Caston.....In case He missed it...please forward this letter I posted to Reckart!

Nlyp - An Open Letter To Reckart!!!
To think I have to come out of retirement just to address you publically....

Alas...here goes.......

I am well aware of the rules of this forum....this is NOT to down you or ridicule you or tear you down...BUT I am going to take you to task!

I will ONLY speak truth ....and if Truth sounds like ridicule...I am sorry...but...

I know you lurk...I know you are reading this and I know you will get what you want and twist it and take it to your "Blog" site but....let the record show....

You have crossed a line today that does not set well with my Spirit. For you to take the face of the devil and place it with the face of MY General Superintendent is not only wrong but it is UNBIBLICAL.
YOU want to speak of Apostolic.....THEN BE APOSTOLIC!

Name an Apostle that would have done such a cowardly act

You action completely blow your credibility with this minister and to plead your case would thus far be pointless.

What does the Bible say about Railing?
The angels were not even allowed to do it.
Yet you have railed against not only Bro. Haney but against Rev. Mangun as well.

NOTHING justifies this!

YOU sir have openly LIED about this forum on your "blog" site...

Example #1

and I quote from you site...

"What would they think of a church that advertised on tv, had their services broadcast on tv,
and said you were going to hell if you watched or owned a tv? They would laugh in your face, and rightly so!
Because it is ridiculous. Look at this picture, it is done by a UPC member named Daniel Alicea. It is a "UPCI Television Disclaimer"

Here is lie number 1

"it is done by a UPC member named Daniel Alicea"

Daniel IS NOT UPC.....
He is a member of this forum....but you ASSUME he is UPC so go and post what you think is fact when you dont have a clue.

Lie number 2

"It is notable that a big fish like Clint Brown was seen roaming the halls at the UPCI General Conference. (It signals something, but WHAT?) But no, I get almost no hits from people searching for Clint Brown.
I get many from people searching for Tim Dyson! Who is Tim Dyson that was seen with Clint Brown? I never heard of him before. I discovered he was the pastor of a church in Bradenton,
Florida and was in what appeared to be deep conversation with Clint Brown. Dyson seemed like a small fish to me. At first I could not find a website for him or any information about him online. So I wondered why all the interest searching for Tim Dyson and my blog getting hits because I posted the picture of he and Clint Brown. Who is Tim Dyson and what interest does he have in the UPC? Why were he and Clint Brown at the General Conference and signing autographs for hundreds of people? Is he even Apostolic? What are his intentions? So, I decided to dig into the official government records located throughout Florida for answers."

TRUTH -
What you did was take a picture that a poster took with his camera and sent to ME....I posted the picture...
The truth is that Clint came to see old friends - thats all...he was raised UPC.
He had no agenda.....he is related to Timothy Spells wife.
He was treated nice I am sure. What would you think...we throw him out and call him a dog?
YOU took this picture and spun it with YOUR opinion. Well YOUR opinion was WRONG!

"Hundreds of autographs"......Give me a break. Yes he was approached by many to sign his CD's.....BUT "hundreds" is a lie.

Lie Number 3 -

"His (Tim Dyson) church, Suncoast Harvest Center, was also known as Harvest Rescue Mission, located at 1300 17th Ave West, Bradenton, FL, 34205. And looky here- guess who is the Secretary of this Nonprofit Organization? CLINT BROWN! No wonder they were together at the UPC General Conference- they know each other quite well! Don't believe me? Here's proof, here is their 2005 Annual Report where Clint Brown is Boardmember"

Ok....so let me get this straight....Dyson and Brown are at GC together and so now its ok for you to put them and the UPCI in the same camp?

Sir....I am sure you are not that ignorant!
They did NOT come under the invite of the UPC...they came on their own.

It would be fair to say, with your logic, that if the local prostitute from Tampa
walked in your church...we must assume you asked her to come so now you support prostitution? Or a drunk comes to your church so now you support alcohol?

You go on to say....

"I guess "Glorystar" is some sort of deal that churches can sign up for & sell, kind of like selling Pampered Chef or something. You can "become a reseller of satellite programming that promotes a positive lifestyle." Their website, http://www.glorystar.tv/ lists all the trinitarian & whatnot ministries that have channels- I guess one can arrange to have your own church's channel up there, too. I can just see it, the UPCI Network, with the Entertainment Division, the TV Preacher Division, and the Money-Grubbing Division. Send in your dollars today, receive a free Prayer Cloth! Touch the screen, receive the Holy Ghost! Come on, give it 5 to 8 years MAX and the UPC will be producing their own Benny Hinns! And I don't think it is limited to the UPC by a long shot, it's just the org that I know best, and is the leader of the pack!"

Sir...You speak this as though they are.
Read this and ask yourself.....Was this written in a Christian manner?
I think not....I can see plainly that you have HUGE issues with the UPCI....fine.....but to spew some of things you do about us is uncalled for, shameful and flat out sin.
IT is not Christian and it is NOT APOSTOLIC!

Lie number 4 -

You post this immature picture of Bro. Haney and scream immature thoughts and words......Then we read it here on AFF and you add a PSS...I quote.

" PSS: The hate as I predicted exploded on the Apostolicfriendsforum,Com when a poster named THAD delighted in enflaming the posters with comments about this page. His thread was entitled:

{{{BAAMMM!!}}}Ultra Con Trashes Haney! Letter you've been waiting for!

The hate that followed was tremendous. But it was justified they believed because of my parody and carricure of the devil using the face of Kenneth Haney to get the TV voted in. Now if Haney opposed it he had ample time to say so when he was before the convention and BEFORE THE VOTE! The hate posted boiled to 17 pages and over 100 posts before the Admins decided to pull the plug. I did not get to read and copy the loving words as only UPC members and GNC posters can write them. They protested my page and descend into forms of hatred that far exceeds what I wrote about the television and the devil using the face and person of Kenneth Haney.

I would like to do some investigation on THAD. If anyone knows the name of this poster please forward it to me. I understand he attends the UPC Church Apostolic Tabernacle of Merced, California, has two relatives on the District Board and was married to someone named Tawana. I would like to know who this is so I can make a proper response to his singling me out to mount an attack upon me and my stand for holiness and against TV. He called me an "Ultra Con." Also, I would like to know who AmazingGrace from Dallas, Texas is.

One poster identified the delirium against me in these words:

"mocking, ripping, shredding, or otherwise kicking Reckart in the head." These words described the over 100 posted rants that fell just short of calling for my murder and death. The spirit generated by these holier then thou members of Apostolicfriendsforum.com demonstrates rage gone wild that is now acceptable among liberal Laodicaeans."

I saved the best Lie for last!

THAD is not now nor has he ever been married. "Tawana" is name we tease him over...that his future wife will be named "Tawana"...

SO....here is what you have done....YOU have once again...taken what you think and what you have read and posted it on your "Blog" as law......SO you have now lied on AFF and THAD on your site.

Can you see a pattern?

Bottom line...you have issues with the UPC....
You are bitter....your are mad....whatever....
But I tell you in the Holy Ghost that GOD is NOT pleased with it and HE will, as YOU say, "spew it out of his mouth".

Oh...While you are talking about prayer cloths and all the TV things....
Why the asking for tithes and offerings on your website?

You are inconsistent with your ramblings and I would call on YOU to repent and ask God to forgive you for the spin, the lies, the misrepresentation of this forum and the HORRIBLE way you RAILED on the great men of God.

EVEN IF they were devils.....YOU CANNOT RAIL!

You asked about THAD?
Who is he....California....District Board.....Tawana?

You seem to want to go to alot of trouble to ask questions???

Well, as much as I hate to admit it, I have to agree with Caston on this one, Bro.

Having a license or not having a license, even having one and then turning it in has nothing to do with keeping the unity of the faith.

Sometimes you have a change in direction in your life, such as I did a couple of years ago, and staying in the man-made organization that you joined just isn't the proper thing to do anymore.

Remember, God is a God of constant change and growth.........Elijah was fed by ravens while sipping from one of the only streams of water in the land at the time..........but, there was a time when the stream dried up, and the birds stopped delivering food, and it was time for a change. If he would have been stubborn, and stayed because that's the way "things always have been", not only would he have died, but he never would have met the widow who baked him a cake, and purchased sustenance for herself and her family. So, sometimes refusal to change doesn't bring blessing, it brings demise.

The difference is - is this a God driven change, or am I just sulking because things didn't go my way?

So what if it is over TV?

History is replete of instances of people seceding from countries, organizations, political structures, etc., because the core values of that group of people changed.

Nothing wrong with that, in my opinion...........if Caston made a decision based on his moral viewpoints, you can't fault him for that.

I'd rather he leave than stay and cause division..............

Now, if he got mad because he didn't get to preach General Conference, and left, that's a different story.........

So, why don't you come over to the "ministerial Ethics" thread and discuss this, that is if you aren't afraid.

Let me just reiterate this ... I'm not on trial here. I do not have to argue with anyone about this. I do not stand alone on this issue, there are many men who have preached and stood against the tide of worldliness for many years, more importantly our beloved Apostle John wrote "Love not the world". I am not alone in this ... make no mistake. There are still old fashioned Apostolic preachers who adhere to the message of Holiness and separation from this Godless world.

And as long as I can put one foot ahead of the other I WILL be one of these preachers. You know why? Without Holiness no man shall see the Lord .... Hebrews 12:14 says so. :nod

Moreover, I didn't write this thread to sit here and talk about UPC license. I just wanted to know if any of you ever heard this song before .... so please stop with your silliness Bro. Eastman, this is not a fight about whom has dropped license and who hasn't ... okay?

October 3, 2007 - Wednesday

As you all might know, the United Pentecostal Church International has passed the resolution concerning advertising on television this year at the General Conference in Tampa, Florida. We can thank all the one thousand and some odd backslidden ministers for this.

What a sad thing it is to know that (what was and could have remained despite mere liberalism) an instrument of God for saving the lost in this Godless world has begin to crumble. This is just a stumbling block for the UPCI. As we know a lot of their churches are and have became very charismatic and liberal in their worship, standards, etc. Why after all these years of fighting the tide of worldliness does it have to change? I'm afraid I'm just as or more at loss for an explanation than the reader. I loved the United Pentecostal Church, I loved what they stood (past tense) for, and all their efforts of building the Kingdom of God. The great fellowship one could experience while being involved. On the contrary however I am afraid I've had a change of heart due to their recent decisions at General Conference.

What will be next Saints of God? Will they start to question whether or not it's okay for woman to cut their hair, wear make-up, jewelry, pants, etc.? Perhaps even begin to question Salvation issues. One former UPCI minister said "It's very possible that the UPCI will be like the Assemblies of God in about 40 years." and as sad as it is to admit, I'm afraid he might be right.

The United Pentecostal Church was founded in 1945 with the merging of two Oneness organizations, one being the Pentecostal Church Inc. the other being the Pentecostal Assemblies of Jesus Christ. For the past 62 years this at one time great organization known as the United Pentecostal Church, and then later adding International to their name; was that of the best! Their men and women stood and preached against the world, standing firm on the Beloved John's writing "Love NOT the world neither the things of the world."

Their men and women stood and preached against the world, standing firm on the Beloved John's writing "Love NOT the world neither the things of the world."

It is absolutely mortifying to know that this at one time great organization has lost their love for Holiness and Separation from the world. See the thing about it Saints, is the war between Holiness and worldliness has become something that has worked it's way into our Apostolic churches. This should NOT be! There should NOT be NO question about "should we or should we not be on TV?", "should we or should we not cut our hair (speaking of the women), wear jewelry, pants, any clothes that immodestly exposes the body", "should we or should we not go to the picture show?" the answer is NO!!!!! A million times!!!!! If we participate in worldly things, then the world will not be able to see that what we as Apostolic Pentecostals have can change their lives!

We as the Apostolic Church need to live up to what God intended for His Church. He did NOT, and I repeat did NOT intend for the His Church to become entangled with the cares of this world. Living for God is more than a shout; it's more than talking in tongues; it's more than the initial infilling of the Holy Ghost. One cannot live for God merely on a "Sunday night shout, dance, or roll in the floor", this way of life involves a great deal of dedication, consecrating yourselves to God, separation from this Godless world, and remember we can maintain our Holiness and separation from the world without excluding ourselves from reaching the lost. We do NOT need television to reach the unsaved! We do NOT conform to the world, they conform to US! The Holy scriptures written by the Apostle Paul in Romans, said "Be ye not conformed to this world ..." and there is no doubt that many of our Apostolic churches are becoming more and more worldly every day! No wonder we have not been able to convert society, for too often Christians dress, look, and act just like the world around them. But, when the Lord comes, I am afraid many may be in for some shocks and surprises.

What we as Apostolics have is that which was spoken by the Prophets of old, saints, and elders. The message we preach, men gave their lives for. Matthew suffered martyrdom in Ethiopia, killed by a sword. John the Beloved suffered martyrdom when he was boiled in a huge basin of boiling oil during a wave of persecution in Rome. James, the brother of Jesus (not officially an apostle), the leader of the church in Jerusalem, was thrown over a hundred feet down from the southeast pinnacle of the Temple when he refused to deny his faith in Christ. When they discovered that he survived the fall, his enemies beat James to death with a club. This was the same pinnacle where Satan had taken Jesus during the temptation.

Bartholomew, also know as Nathanael, was a missionary to Asia. He witnessed in present-day Turkey and was martyred for his preaching in Armenia, when he was flayed to death by a whip. Andrew was crucified on an x-shaped cross in Greece. After being whipped severely by seven soldiers, Andrew's body was tied to the cross with cords to prolong his agony. The Apostle Thomas was stabbed with a spear in India during one of his missionary trips to establish the church there. Matthias, the apostle chosen to replace the traitor Judas Iscariot, was stoned and then beheaded. The Apostle Paul was tortured and then beheaded by the evil Emperor Nero at Rome in A.D. 67

So as you can all read the Apostles of old were martyred for the message that we preach! Not just them, but hundreds and thousands of Christians have been killed due to their faith in Jesus Christ over the period of 30 A.D. when the Apostolic church began on the Day of Pentecost until now. My point of sharing that was to perhaps get you to understand what we have is so PRECIOUS! What we preach is the power of God unto salvation! We as the Apostolic Church do not need to back down on what we've stood for so long. It's still Jesus Name baptism or it's hell! It's still Holiness or it's hell! It's still Holy Ghost or it's hell! and the Trinitarians are NOT our brothers, that will never change! They do not serve the same God we do! Our Jesus is NOT the second person of a mythical trinity, but rather He is the First, the Last, Alpha, Omega, that which is, and which was, and is to come! The Father, Son, and Holy Ghost! God incarnate! That's our Jesus!!! The Eye Almighty!

It is time Apostolics to take a stand against this act of the world! We cannot afford to let it creep into our churches any longer! The Lord said to "be ye Holy for I AM holy!", "Come out from among them, and be ye separate saith the Lord!" let us all take into consideration the importance of maintaining Holiness and separation from the world. It is vital to our salvation! Do you really want to make Heaven your home? Then lets abide by the Holy Word of God!!! Without holiness no man shall see the Lord!!

As far as people influencing others to leave, there IS very much an effort being put forth to encourage all UPC brethren who aren't happy with the resolution to disaffiliate immediately. Matter of fact I have on my computer the official disaffiliation form in PDF format.

I have always heard that if you are gonna go "running around the church" your eyes better be closed so everyone knows you are in the spirit...not flesh.. what say you???:bliss

This is something that drives me up a wall. Where in the Bible does it say that our worship had to be in the "spirit". It doesn't say that we are to sing, dance, clap, run or anything else "in the spirit". The flesh is all we have to worship God with. This is why we have those seizure type fits that you see, not true heart-felt worship. And for the record, I think that Jesus was the first to say, "Suffer the little children to come unto me ........" Some of the most pure worship I have ever seen has come from children.

Greetings to you all, just curious have any of you ever heard this song?

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
You're doing mighty wrong;
God gave it for a glory
And you should wear it long .
You spoil your lovely hair, girls,
You keep yourself in style;
Before you bob your hair, girls,
Just stop and think a while.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It is an awful shame
To rob the head God gave you
And bear the flapper's name.
You're taking off your covering,
It is an awful sin;
Don't never bob your hair, girls,
Short hair belongs to men.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It does not look so nice;
It's just to be in fashion,
lt's not the Lord's advice.
And every time you bob it
You're breaking God's command
You cannot bob your hair, girls
And reach the Glory land.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It's not the thing to do;
Just wear it, always wear it,
And to your Lord be true.
And when before the judgment
You meet your Lord up there,
He'll say, "Well done, for one thing,
You never bobbed your hair.

Did you write this song?...I'll probably find out if I read the rest of this thread - but not up to all the reading. Someone just cut to the chase and tell me.

Daniel 7:9
"As I looked, "thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took his seat. His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of his head was white like wool. His throne was flaming with fire, and its wheels were all ablaze.

Oh lord help!

What a goofy song and I can't believe churches actually would sing that! Real good outreach there if you have a visitor when you sing that!

Caston - - everytime I see your name I think of Beauty and the Beast, but his name was Gaston.

I was thinking the same thing...I don't think that would make any bobbed haired girls run to the altar - maybe out the door but not to the altar. Can you imagine Jesus Christ or the Apostles singing this song?

How would this fit into the book of Psalm? ...Could you see this as Chapter 151? Sorry, I am not meaning to be disrespectful to the initiator of this thread, but I don't think there is a place for this kind of song in a church service. At least not when there are visitors there..(or otherwise)..Just my opinion.

Well, come on down here to Bama ... I get requested to sing it often! :hypercoffee

Seriously, has any bobbed haired woman ever gone to the altar while you were singing it? I am not meaning to be disrespectful. I just seems so much like an "in-your-face" type of song that would not seem right for someone visiting a Oneness church.

Just because you get requests to sing it might not mean it is pleasing to God to sing it - AGAIN - just my opinion - no disrespect here. To each his own.

You didn't answer my question about this song having had a positive affect on any bobbed hair woman!!!

Has it? :snapout

Just kidding with you. I'm outta here.

Let's not attack each other. I am just curious to know why these kind of songs are sung. In the book of Psalm, the songs are all about WORSHIPPING Him and lifting Him up....about His mighty power and glory, or about soul searching and cries for forgiveness, etc. - not about how we are different from others!!!!! .....Or about how others are not as righteous as us "as 'Do you bob your hair, girls?' "........How would a little girl feel who came to church who had never been taught about bobbing her hair - or the elderly woman who had never heard it? Why have "fun" at the expense of someone else? Think about it, please. I sincerely mean you no harm but wish you would consider how this might do more harm than good. This is offensive and would serve no purpose other than to offend. Merely my opinion - no disrespect.

It sounds as though you need some bobbed haired women in your church...Any church that is growing needs to have all kinds of people in it. With this song, let me give you a hint: T-H-E-Y W-O-N-T C-O-M-E...Or You will run them off if they do come.

Unity issues? The entire Oneness movement regardless of organizational boundaries has unity issues. The Oneness church has never been unified in that there are some many who believe all different things.

Some believe in Pre, others in mid, and post. This has become an issue amongst brethren.

Some adhere to Holiness, some doesn't. There just isn't enough time to go through the list of the different ranks of Oneness believers in the world today.

There you have the Oneness group in China "True Jesus Church" they believe in keeping the Sabbath. So trust me on this Eastman everyone isn't going to agree. We can agree to disagree though.

I feel 2-3 year olds running around the chuch is bothersome and disrupting to the spirit. I have seen more than one youngster get "taken out" by someone sliding into the alter:bliss

Having the resident church aisle runner (he's 3...he's the youngest of the 10 kids in our church...and good Lord he manages to run every single service with the entire church watching him....) I'd fall out laughing if someone slid into the alter and took him out. He might FINALLY get the point to stay with me.

Way to go saving all those churchy people! You wanna know what? I don't like your attitude. At all. Thanks for giving me at least one name of a church I'll never, ever, EVER in my entire life visit. I already know I wouldn't be welcome. You wanna know how long I stayed out of church and away from God cuz I "knew" I wouldn't be welcome anywhere? I'm VERY grateful for my Godly pastor who doesn't make judgements based on outward appearances or sin in general.

Oh I'm spitting angry. You just go right on thinking that any woman who's cut her hair isn't worthy. You just go right on ahead. Oh never mind. I'm bawling. I don't understand people who judge like this. I don't understand why God lets people like you make it so hard for people to accept His love. I don't get it. I know that by the grace of God Himself did I even walk into my church. I know that by the grace of God Himself I didn't die while "really" backslidden. Cutting hair has nothing to do with Heaven or Hell. NOT A THING. Neither does what a person wears. It's a matter of the heart. It's a matter that's between God and each of us. Well, now, this casts a whole new light on things. I do not appreciate you referring to those ministers who voted pro-tv as "backslidden", Caston. You've just placed yourself in the judgment seat, and then you sign your letter "I remain humble".......this letter is anything BUT humble, and you need to check you spirit.
Yup. Here is my comment. Folks when someone demands you don't quote their copy written material, you CAN in fact quote portions under the fair use law AND even if not, you can comment about it and give a summery.

Mr Smith has asked that we NOT allow his copy written material to be posted here, so if anyone has quoted him entirely they need to edited it out except pertinent quotes and or just summarize it and comment

Apparently Caston Smith does not want his article posted on this site and has asked it be removed. Clearly he is not willing to have his words put to public scrutiny.

However it is not a copywrite volation to give highlites or make comments

To begin with, Accoring to Mr Smith, if you are a UPC minister and voted to allow TV to be used for outreach, you are backslidden.

He also assumes the reader of his "article" feels the same way he does...saying that the readers are at the same lose of an explanation as he is.

Then he assumes a logical fallacy of a slippery slope that from this will beget that...yes the loosening of standards and other things. However if that were the case, perhaps the real culprit was NOT forbidding the internet in the first place. He can't blame the so called liberals for that. I find it ironic though. Consider that the Internet is not just a place where all forms of pornography can be found. You can find lessons on how to make drugs, bombs and other assorted things. You can also learn all about how to worship Satan...I never heard of such things on a TV.

And why is that? Because the Internet is a large community of individuals much larger than you will ever find in your small circle of friends, and DUE to that we have a larger percentage of running into someone that will attack our doctrines and question them including people who ARE still UPC those that left the UPC and those that are Oneness but were never UPC.

Another interesting tidbit...I've never heard of such scandels that rock the UPC on TV. Certain ministers being arrested for various lude conduct and other things...not on TV, but on the Internet I have. I wonder how many of the 'unbackslidden" super spiritual "conservatives" freaquent the internet? I wonder too how many of them get caught in a lie for saying one thing HERE and then saying something else over there or for having one "mask" on here but another over there? I suppose many of us can name names....the Internet has been so far MORE trouble for the UPC than TV ever was.

Even more so, why are they supporting the people who own and run the Internet with their dollers? Just as they decided to pull their dollars out of the UPC along with themselves, because they can't support such a thing...do they realize they support the very means of trasnmitting kiddie porn and beastiality among other thign? If they were consistant they would get off the internet, find other jobs that don't require them to use the internet or use email only. Sadly logic escapes the likes of those that calls some of you all liberals and backsliden because you believe we can use this media ot reach the lost souls

The rest of the "article" is Mr Smith making assertion after assertion and circular reasoning after circular reasoning, all without ever offering an ounce of proof. He just says it and adds an exclamation point or a NO..and that should be good enough for you the reader, unless you are one of the backslidden liberals he was talking about.

Why is using the TV a lose of separatetion from the world but not the internet? Or golfing? Or driving an gas guzzling escalade while some families in churches take the bus. There are millions of souls going to hell and the only thing they can think about is how holy they feel they are by what they do or don't do to win the lost?

You can go ahead and read the article, but to be honest it is light on intelligence, evidence, proof or scriptures and heavy on theatrics and fist pounding for emphasis.

Not to draw comparisons, but even Hitler had a great style, but he was dead wrong. Emotionallism does not lead to truth. EVen Muslims get emotional and pound their fists and act defiant for their religious views. That does not make their views more right than anyone elses.

Go ahead folks and read this article, but I warn you...it's really not worth it's weight in cyberspace. It would be far more valuable to us if we could post it and examine it and learn from the gross failure of Mr Smith to represent YOUR views and actually refute them lol

Mr Smith, the world is watching, but they don't give a hoot about our standards. They are looking at our character. They see arguing. They see division. They see that we are more concerned about church laws than we are about their souls and helping them lost.

Living for God is about the character of the man inside. Anyone can put on a fake mask. The Pharisees did it, that was why they were called hypocrits..that's what the word means. Actors in a play...they were so focused on how they appeared to others...remember Jesus's rebuke for how they appeared while fasting? They were so focused that Jesus said that inwardly they were ravening wolves in sheeps clothing. He said make the inside of the cup clean first so the outward would be clean also.

So many forget that character is far more important than owning a TV or what kind of clothing you wear. What a person says or not says. Lying, Stealing...cheating.

The outward appearence is NOT a means to Holyness. It should be rather an result of inward holiness. But sadly so many have made it a means, they don't have a clue what true holiness is so they become entangled with adding more and more rules that often in secret many of them are not even keeping.

I always found it ironic to hear about a Pastor that is hard hard hard on everything and everyone, but enjoys listening to worldly country music. You see, Holiness is consistant. It's not pick and choose.

Eastman, this is not a fight about whom has dropped license and who hasn't ... okay?

Greetings to you all, just curious have any of you ever heard this song?

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
You're doing mighty wrong;
God gave it for a glory
And you should wear it long .
You spoil your lovely hair, girls,
You keep yourself in style;
Before you bob your hair, girls,
Just stop and think a while.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It is an awful shame
To rob the head God gave you
And bear the flapper's name.
You're taking off your covering,
It is an awful sin;
Don't never bob your hair, girls,
Short hair belongs to men.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It does not look so nice;
It's just to be in fashion,
lt's not the Lord's advice.
And every time you bob it
You're breaking God's command
You cannot bob your hair, girls
And reach the Glory land.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It's not the thing to do;
Just wear it, always wear it,
And to your Lord be true.
And when before the judgment
You meet your Lord up there,
He'll say, "Well done, for one thing,
You never bobbed your hair.
I bet the author is a bearded preacher, claiming to be Oneness...that has gotten into a ton of internet squabbles and has threaten to sue every ISP and a few UPC ministers....he shall be nameless but the initials are SW..

BTW does anyone know the story of how SW had a falling out with Bro Arnold? And there you have it, folks. It appears to me he attends a church that consists of the same people who've been there most of their lives.

As another poster stated, a church that is growing is going to have women with "bobbed hair" because there are new people coming in.

If you'll allow me to brag on God for a moment: we have had 42 people receive the Holy Ghost since Labor Day weekend....this past week 14 of the students from our Christian school received the Holy Ghost after their Bible lesson! :shockamoo

That is really funny that is the response I thought I would get... Ok here is another question!

You would probably be like all the other judgmental dopes I have met!

Let me give you a little for instance...

One night at a little church in Louisiana a very conservative one.. a lady walked in. Her husband walked in with her he was in suit and tie and looked all the part of an apostolic preacher pretty much... he had been announced as being on the speaking agenda for that night... but then when the lead minister noticed his wife had bobbed hair... he told him that they would not need him to preach that night... ...... ACT 1 finished

Act 2

After church when that young preacher asked why he was told not to preach after all it was said to him because his wife had cut her hair... This is I am sure too how you would respond..

Now the little sidenote they forgot to ask about and ended up looking like real fools for was the fact that the reason this young preachers wife had short hair was she had lost it all due to a procedure that required it to be shaved off for and that was her first time back in church since that said procedure...

They called back and felt real bad... after they had already announced to the entire church that this said pastor was in sin because God could never use him because of his wife....

In other words... think about things before you are so judgementa... you may not know all the details....

Ok now what would you have done in this said situation? Let yourself be the same fool that this pastor was?? I pray not!

I agree. I have been at meetings where some old timer was pounding his fists and screaming about women this and women that. His wife did not look thrilled. He seemed to be playing to some of the really UC in the crowd. They were going nuts, hooting and hollering and shouting, but every time he mentioned Jesus...they grew quite.

No ... LOL ... I heard it when I was a little fellah growing up.
lol...You know I am actually not against doing this, but this is really how people get indoctrinated, even in false doctrine. By having it repeated over and over and over into their little childhood heads in song and other things.

It's not necessarily bad...it IS when what is being pounded in is NOT what the bible says and has a bad attitude with it towards others.

LOL ... Glory!
Good grief....

Im sorry but that is just sad that someone runs the isle over singing about bobbed hair???

This meeting in Tulsa isn't a closed meeting or limited for just those men you're referring to in which a lot of them I've been around at various youth camps and camp meetings. Are you not aware of this????? There's other groups of conservatives planning on being there ... :nod

To answer your question ... consider me your "ultra-conservative" ... :thumbsup

Ok now I am sorry I typed too fast and missed a word there... I meant to ask you where do you feel I stand in that group? Just curious to see what you say and since you got Bro E wrong I am anxious to see now...

And yes I am very aware of who is invited to this meeting.

I dont know if you thought to read the posts by socali and I or not the other night... but give us all some credit here.. you have no clue who you are posting with... you have NONE! Almost everyone here is very connected with and outside of the organization in pentecost... and I stress the word VERY.. we do know this and we also know this is not a closed meeting... as a matter of fact me and my husband will be there too... And... again please quit referring to the WE in all this.. make sure the world is aware this is your opinion because I assure you THEY are not all behind you in attitude actions or spirit!!!!

Greetings to you all, just curious have any of you ever heard this song?

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
You're doing mighty wrong;
God gave it for a glory
And you should wear it long .
You spoil your lovely hair, girls,
You keep yourself in style;
Before you bob your hair, girls,
Just stop and think a while.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It is an awful shame
To rob the head God gave you
And bear the flapper's name.
You're taking off your covering,
It is an awful sin;
Don't never bob your hair, girls,
Short hair belongs to men.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It does not look so nice;
It's just to be in fashion,
lt's not the Lord's advice.
And every time you bob it
You're breaking God's command
You cannot bob your hair, girls
And reach the Glory land.

Why do you bob your hair, girls?
It's not the thing to do;
Just wear it, always wear it,
And to your Lord be true.
And when before the judgment
You meet your Lord up there,
He'll say, "Well done, for one thing,
You never bobbed your hair.
BTW I have not finished yet but I was thinking of the Islamic version
Why do you not wear your burka, girls?
You're doing mighty wrong;

And you should wear it long .

And now you shall pay.

So now we must beat you, girls,
All the power belongs to men.

We don't have bobbed haired women in our church ... and the Bible said make a joyful noise unto the Lord eh? :thumbsup

Wow. I would hate to admit that. I guess that means your church doesn't have any new converts. Oh wait, The Bobbed hair song was probably sang the day any possible new convert visited, so they left and never returned. Sad.

Wow that sounded real Godly there!

What would you do if a bobed haired woman did come in your church!?

He'd probably sing the song in the first post. After all, he gets lots of requests for it.

Just teach people to pray and study their Bible. God really can take care of the rest, or do you just believe He's incapable of leading His people where He wants them to be?

Let me know if you're ever visiting in the Corinth/Walnut MS area... I know of a great church where you would be comfortable in visiting, and made to feel very welcome. :)

Yep. Scripture sure is.

Show me where I'll go to hell if I cut my hair and wear jeans.

Show me where I'll go to hell for practicing witchcraft. Bet you can find that one.

Show me where it says to make God look so ugly and so hateful no one would want to have anything to do with Him.

Show me where it says that Christians are supposed to hole up in their holy little places and tell the rest of the world to come back when they're good enough.

Show me where it says Jesus only died for those who look just right and act just right.

Show me where it says that Jesus told the woman at the well to get away cuz she wasn't worth His time.

Show me where IT'S OK TO TWIST SCRIPTURE to make it say what you want it to say. Just took the time to look up 1 Peter 4:17. Glad I did. Why don't you try reading the whole verse? Or even just putting what you did quote in context?

Discussing this with you is not worth my time. But I know there are those reading who need Jesus, and they need to know that this is not what Jesus is like. THAT is worth my time.

1 Peter 4:17 says, "For the time is come that judgement must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God?"

So tell me, what is the gospel of God? According to Strong's, the word used means "good message". What is the good message? Is that not that God is love? That He loves people? That He died on the cross, was resurrected, ascended into Heaven, and that after that the Holy Ghost was poured out? Is it not that there IS a way to be saved? That God has provided a way to commune with Him, to be in His presence? A way to then be able to be with Him for all of eternity? Is it not that His love is more powerful than any sin? Than any demon? Than anything one could ever imagine? Is it not that His deepest desire is for fellowship with us?

Once a person knows the Love of God, everything will line up with His will. I want to do nothing that will grieve God. Oh..to please Him is my heartcry. He's done so much for me, nothing can compare to His LOVE for me, His compassion, His mercy. I would do anything He asks of me. I would do nothing you ask of me. NOTHING. You don't even accept me as I am, much less love me enough to die for me, to comfort me while I weep, to heal my heart, to keep me safe and to provide for all my needs.

Oh yes, the judgement of God is to begin in the house of God. I, for one, intend to be right in my own heart long before I give any heed to rules any man says I need to follow in order to be welcome in the house of God. GOD welcomes me as I am, He welcomes me to get to know Him, He welcomes me to spend time worshipping Him, He reveals deeper meanings in His Word every time I read it, He inspires me to be holy, and He instructs me as to what that means to Him.

I Peter 4:17
For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God:

All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

What I really get excited about is GRACE and LOVE and even MERCY. God dealt with me and brought me out of a horrible pit. He showed me so much love even when I had an outward appearance that screamed SINNER. His GRACE, LOVE and MERCY are what I get excited about the most. That's not to say I don't get excited about Acts 2:38. I do - but let's think about WHO GOD IS. GOD IS LOVE. God is not Acts 2:38. That's the plan to get TO KNOW HIM.

Folks, there may be more to the story than what we see concerning this new member to AFF. He had mentioned that he was raised by his grandparents and that would have explained his taste in musical lyrics/arrangements. Perhaps, he never had been out of his small town in Bama and his only views were ones that people from an older generation had given him.

After reading more posts this evening, I realized that this man has never known the grace of God; only the rigid, loveless faith that was brought about by works and not the revelation of the finished work of the cross.

How could this young man from Bama ever be the soul winner that he would want to be unless he can have compassion for those that were lost and in need of love and an example of God's grace?

In all sincerity, I am adding him to my prayer list.

SO you believe that what that preacher did was right? Am I correct?

It would be a cold day in the deepest darkest pit before I would let you preach to me because I was that woman... I was so sick of preachers with that attitude way back then..

Judge someone and not even have a clue why they are where they are?! Much less if it had truly been a sinner coming into the house of God to find something they needed... they sure wouldnt find it there in good ole wing abalama! They would find condemnation to a total hell and they would be surprised if they ever really ended up there who they would find right beside them!!!!!!!!!

I want an answer. You're saying that you're proud there are no women in your church with bobbed hair. Show me where in the Bible it says that I'll go to hell if I cut my hair, or wear jeans. And I'd like to know what you think the gospel is as well.

And how do you know I haven't been to an alter? How do you know I haven't been filled with the geniune baptism of the Holy Ghost? And my point is exactly that, I don't need anyone to tell me if it's right or wrong, because God does, and God will tell the next person over as well. And the one next to that. No man needs to preach how to dress, God's proven Himself to be quite capable of making sure things are lined up just so.

As for my blood being on my pastor's hands, I'd suggest not making judgement (wow that word seems to come up a lot..) where you have no knowledge.

My Grandpa always said "Son if you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything." so I'm glad I can stand for something and know what I believe in instead of being wishy-washy like so many others.

Furthermore regardless of your derogatory comments toward my raising and Grandparents, I'm ever so thankful for it.

What an attractive couple. ...I didn't say any derogatory comments...It's just that I don't care for that song. That's the point I've been trying to make.

There is a lot more to him I assure you... He stated who he was connected with that makes it very clear!!! VENDETTA...

Vendetta? No, where you're wrong is that while I may have contact and fellowship with Bro. Reckart, we disagree on a few things. Such as eschatology, and I don't adhere to the whole Messianic aspect of his ministry.

We do however agree a lot on Holiness issues.

No, I don't believe what he done was right. I don't remember saying that. Matter of fact I think what he done was totally contrary to what God would have probably wanted him to do. Some folks just aren't rational when dealing with issues like yours. I'm sorry you had to endure that ....

Caston,

I didn't disparage your upbringing at all. I know that things have been more than heated with the exchanges you've had with other members tonight, but what I had written wasn't meant to cause you further damage.

I wasn't being flippant when I wrote that I would pray for you.

Yet you say you dont have no bobbed hair women in your church? So honestly what would have happened had it been your church I would have walked in that night?

This meeting in Tulsa isn't a closed meeting or limited for just those men you're referring to in which a lot of them I've been around at various youth camps and camp meetings. Are you not aware of this????? There's other groups of conservatives planning on being there ... :nod

To answer your question ... consider me your "ultra-conservative" ... :thumbsup
You're not a true "ultra-con", if you were, you wouldn't be typing on the devil's keyboard to communicate to us via the INTERNET. LOL!

I don't believe anyone would have said anything to you, especially my Pastor ... while he may be conservative in his views, he is a very well balanced man and is not swift to assume the worse about people.

We have new converts in our church, and some of them doesn't look exactly like a "seasoned saint" (if you will) ... Don't take me wrong our church doesn't shun those who don't understand the Holiness standards. We have several young ladies in our church who came to the Lord within the last year or so, who before cut their hair, and things of this sort, but within a years time their hair hasn't grown to the length of some of our other ladies, but at any rate our women doesn't wear their hair down ... So you can't really tell the length of it.

Yes, Bro. McMullen would preach me into hell for having the Internet I'm sure ... should've heard him at Bro. Campbell's one time ... he was death against it.

That's just a standard taught in our church.

Hebrews 13:17
Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls.

Our people adhere to the Biblical standards taught, and also the pastoral standards set in our church.

:shockamoo

So yes, we have some "bobbed hair" women attending now.

NOT SOMETHING TO BRAG ABOUT, DUDE!

If they don't adhere to the standards taught in our church, then they are subject to open rebellion against the Pastor, and Jesus said that is as of the sin of witchcraft.
