The human imagination is a powerful thing. While I actually enjoy watching Ghosthunters and am interested in the concept of "residual hauntings" where there is no intelligence to paranormal activity, but rather it continues to play out over and over like a tape recorder, the show drives me nuts because of their insistence on doing all investigations in the dark. The evidence value of "seeing a shadow out of the corner of your eye in a pitch black room" is laughable at best. Don't get me started on EVP's either....
I agree Randy. Being in a dark structure in the middle of the night feeds the imagination with all sorts of "para-normal" experiences. I watch Ghost Hunters and have never, not once, seen anythng convincing. Its TV for cryin out loud! Theres another show thats even more laughable. Paranormal states or something like that. The one with the "quasi-priest" that "cleanses" the house. Almost comedic. As you say, the imagination is a powerful thing. Movies like "Close encounters", Beetlejiuce and just about anything based on Stephen Kings books did a great service for "the dark side".

Waiting for the Lord is easy... Waiting patiently? Not so much.
Are out of body experiences that occur in church different that those one might experience in other venues?

I'm reading a lot of talk about television. But my grandfather could tell true stories that would make your hair stand on end. I've had experiences that made me want to leave my house. I had a lady friend visiting me one evening (a quasi date) and we were discussing the death of a dear friend of hers. She shared with me some strange things that began happening after his death. I just listened and tried not to make light of what she was saying. I began to "feel" something "off". Then suddenly the glass globe cover for the overhead light in my kitchen just exploded sending glass everywhere. Here's the kicker. We were in the living room talking. The kitchen light had been off for hours and was stone cold. I've seen battery operated toys start on their own in the middle of the night. These things happened last year. Nothing strange has happened for a few months now.
My point is this... the television programming is only popular because many everyday people, even those who were once skeptics, have had experiences that have left them asking questions and wondering what is happening. While I think that more times than not it's only one's imagination, I know that things like these happen. I've even attended "deliverance" prayer meetings wherein demons are cast out. I don't doubt that there is substance to some things that people have experienced.
i watched the paranormal show a few times. my daughter gets scared of it but likes it. she is wierd ;p
but anyway. i do believe these are all demonic beings.
They did a show and they brought a medium into the house. and the medium was speaking to the spirit. the spirit which was a demon kept telling her. i was invited here.
when asking the family about this they admitted to having done some type of ritual asking for a presence.
this demonic spirit was constantly wrecking their home, and messing with their 2-3 year old kid.

when i was young, just barely had my liscense to drive. One of mine and my friends hobbie was going caving. and we was heading to a old abandon coal mine.
The road going up the mountain is really only wide enough for one vehicle. On one side it was a wall of rock, on the other side it was adrop off.
we was heading up there late at night, when another vehicle was comming down. I really didnt know how we was gonna get passed each other.
some how we squezed by. I was so relieved , as soon as the car went by. However my buddy in the passenger seat was pail as a ghost and was freaked out. He said the car just disapeared.
My first reaction is they went of the cliff, and so we started looking, and nothing. Car just went poof. its one of those things that makes you go hmmmmm

I was talking to a friend of mine and the topic of the paranormal and ghosts came up. He shared his opinion with me and I found it interesting. So I thought I'd revive this conversation. He explained that man is a trichotomy (body, soul, and spirit). He essentially explained that when one dies their body is burried in the ground and physical consciousness ends. The soul is the seat of personality and emotions, and proceeds into the afterlife. The spirits of the unsaved are essentially natural life-forces that might continue linger on the earthly plane in a given location or around the body until they dissipate... or are removed. He explained that when one encounters a ghost, they are encountering the disembodied "spirit" or "life-force" of a person.
What intrigued me is the complexity of his opinion. Categorically, a person can exist in three distinct places at once. The body can physically reside in the grave. The soul can consciously exist in the afterlife. The spirit can linger on the earthly plane.

Thoughts???
i dont think its a disembodied spirit, what i think is demonic spirits tend to take on the lord or the story of the area.
for instance, there is a insane asylum. If you want to get freaked out go take a tour. stuff moves on its own there and lots of noise.
They even brought a dog in and the dog was spooked. we know that the possesed was driven mad just like the man that 100 demons in him. I believe those demonic spirits still hang around such places even after there closed cause people draw attention to the supernatural.
so instead of a spirit of some one who died i believe its a demon.trying to take on the role of the story and the lore.
My wife and her sister saw her grandfather after he was killed or murdered in her grannies house after they buried him.
she would probably agree with you. ofcourse they group right next to a cemetary and played in when they was kids...
