Ontologically speaking a person is tripart, or a trichotomy (body, soul, spirit). The body (Gk. Soma) is the physical part of a person. The soul (psueche) is the seat of the thoughts and emotions (psyche). The spirit (pnuema) is one's "breath" or "living essence".
Essentially, the concept behind the theory I proposed is that one's body is buried in the grave. One's soul enters the afterlife. And one's spirit (in various situations) might linger.
Ancient Judaism believed that the immaterial part of a man could be divided up as follows:
1.Nephesh, related to natural instinct.
2.Ruach, related to emotion and morality.
3.Neshamah, related to intellect and the awareness of God.
4.Chaya, considered a part of God, as it were.
5.Yechidah, also termed the pintele Yid (the "essential [inner] Jew"). This aspect is essentially one with G‑d.
The rabbis explained how various elements of the soul experience different realities upon death.
Ontologically...trichotomy....afterlife....7x4...s quare root of "R"...1 ml of boron, 4 mls of argon, carefully add liquified aluminum...wait I got it! The answer is pi to the fourth power.

There is nothing in there that declares he actually DIED. This is the FIRST I have ever heard someone make this claim. Because if it's true, then Jonah was RESURRECTED, literally.
Besides, Jesus himself contradicts your claim, here, in the verse you quoted:
For just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
Jesus identifies a similarity between His (then) future experience, and Jonah's. Three days and three nights. BUT HE ALSO MAKES A DISTINCTION - HE (Christ) was to be three days and nights in SHEOL (is that not what the HEART of the earth means?), whereas Jonah was NOT IN SHEOL but IN THE WHALE.
God has revealed to me through personal experience and Scripture that the immortal soul doctrine is false. The soul dies... even if you're afraid to admit that it does. If you want to believe that when we die we don't (applicable to ALL MANKIND)... be my guest.
But false doctrine is false doctrine.
Doctrine of devils.
God, angels, demons, are all spirits without material form. They are alive. One need not have a physical body to be a soul.
A good does of ketamine will do EXACTLY THE SAME THING.
Also, neuroscientists have induced 'near death experiences' by electrical stimulation of the cortex during surgery. Replete with 'the Light', life passing before their eyes, departed loved ones, the whole nine yards.
Study up, nothing's conclusive. Those having near death experiences can often recall details they had no way of knowing unless actually being conscious and seeing them.
Quote:
Are you kidding me? A WITCH was able to drag Samuel's SOUL from hell? Seriously, you believe that?
Yes. God wouldn't prohibit something in the Law with penalty of death if it were not possible. The Bible states that it was Samuel... and he even pronounced a prophesy of doom upon Saul. Samuel was concious while not in body.
Quote:
Jesus did not affirm that the spirits of dead people could go walking around spooking houses. Jesus simply affirmed that HE WAS NOT A DISEMBODIED SPIRIT, not that disembodied spirits of the 'dearly departed' are wont to hang out with us.
Jesus implied that spirit doesn't have flesh and bone. Jesus didn't say spirits don't exist.

The immortal soul doctrine is a doctrine of THE Devil.
Now you're calling God a devil. Soul sleep is a doctrine of demons.

is it really or is that how you feel on the matter?
cause it doesnt make a difference either way. Time has no hold over you once you die. regardless if your asleep (dead) 2000 years or 10 seconds your eyes will awaken to judgment or redemption. and to you it will be instantly
it doesnt take away or add to your faith, so i saw its hardly a doctrine of devils, as in no way will it really effect your salvation.
