About six months ago when my upgraded from a regular cell phone to an iphone 4s I got an HTC smartphone. I rarely use it since I have my work phone with me constantly but keep it in the car to stream radio stations from I heart radio. I can listen to my local station no matter where I am traveling to. Last Sunday on the way back from an out of state trip I was able to listen to the Tennessee Titans football game streaming through my smart phone.

I also like being able to check my personal emails easily. More than my smart phone I use my Kindle Fire. Almost every restaurant has free wifi now so I can read newspapers, check emails, and read a book while at lunch if I want.
Hopefully when you're dining alone and not with friends or family!
That is so one of my pet peeves!
For anyone to sit and stare at a phone screen while in the company
of others while dining!

Re: Just a thought...

I'm in love with my iPhone. It has maps so I can find my way out to buy cows in the boonies... It has 'farm weather' whoda thunk it? It has email, music my way, ibooks when I'm somewhere bored (read 5 chapters last week while getting all the recalls done for my diesel Jetta,. sheesh!) Games to keep the grandkids happy when they are in my car on a road trip, bank on line to pay my bills and I can even scan in a check and make sure it's good when someone buys something at the farm before they drive off. I use icloud to keep 10 doctors surgery calendars straight and set alarms and reminders for everything. I can also write notes to myself which include my grocery lists, don't forget this or that... I'd never trade that for a flip phone!

I'm glad you can afford an i phone. Not sure I would buy one even if I could afford it.

Me too!

We got an ATT family plan over 10 years ago when the boys were going off to college. To us, them being able to stay in touch was worth everything, so we sacrificed for them to have cell phones. When my middle son graduated and got a good job he bought me my first iPhone. I loved it from the fist minute. Don coveted one for years... and the kids went in on one for him for his 50th birthday (we have five grown kids). I thought he'd lose it for sure but he never did. We are grandfathered in to a $20/mo plan for unlimited data and text. So we pay that above our rate plan which is so low it does not exist anymore either. I am always one version behind whatever the current version is because I buy my phones on craigslist when a new one comes out and all the gotta-have-the-newest-thing folks get new phone-toys.

Don gets my old phone which is fine for him because he never does anything with it but call, text and use the camera. If he were to lose his phone now we would simply reactivate his last model, all of which are in a drawer... He still has them all the way back to the original V1 iPhone.

So I spend $70 a month for two phones with unlimited everything pretty much... technically not minutes but we have more than we ever use with about 4K in rollover. Up till my mom died and my son graduated this year it was 4 phones for $90/mo. Every other year or so I spend $100 on a new iPhone version and I haven't had a contract in years so could change my mind in an instant if a better deal came along... but so far... well... that hasn't happened so iPhone it is.

The kids think I should get a Droid because they are so much cooler.

Off to get that app!

I use the classic phone ring tone and I love it... only drawback... so does everyone else and when I hear 'my' phone ringing in a public place and go digging in my purse for it, I always find it just in time to see the guy next to me grab his phone and start talking,

You can upgrade for less money than an Iphone to a droid based phone.

Re: Just a thought...

I have no need for an i phone. Really...I don't.

I rarely talk on cell phones because I cannot hear well. It always sounds garbled to me.

I am going to admit how utterly old fashioned I am...the only reason I even have any type of cell is because my kids want to know where *I* am...so my oldest bought me one for mother's day. I used to drive all over the southeast in old clunker vehicles without a phone. Now my kids don't even want me to drive 10 miles to the city without my phone.

Heh.

Ahhh...I see.

You are a faithful customer to AT&T. I'm not... so I would have to pay more if'n I wanted an iPhone.
