In my opinion, this whole 'grace vs. law' is one of the key stumblingblocks for Apostolic purity. I stood at a gas pump recently with a man - a young marrieds director from a UPC Church - standing on the other side pumping gas as well. He was smoking a cigarette and a young preacher with me mentioned the fact he had a cigarette in his hand (in relationship to gas and a lit cigarette). The man misunderstood and very quickly said, "We preach grace! We're not in bondage anymore."

One word comes to mind: PUKE! I'm not for living 'under the law' but some laws are not eliminated by the presence of grace. Again, the curse of the law is done away with but not the principles behind those laws. Grace does coexist with certain spiritual laws.

The first night going back to a place you said you hadn't been in 25 years, you have an anxiety attack, heartburn, gas or something and post a long diatribe about how we're (well, the LA District anyway ) is going to hell in a handbasket, so to speak. It was doom and gloom.

So much so that you bought a black shirt to symbolize your mourning. You wanted to wear it the next night to show everyone how deeply saddened you were.

But the next night, Hallellujah anyhow, the Lord was in it! The Quartet sang and you felt back at home. Everything was back to being right again. The church was back on the path . . .

Now suddenly we're in a little boat about ready to plunge over a steep, rocky waterfall. I'm assuming if that happens, we'll be dashed to bits and alive no more.



Up one day, down the next. Up one day, down the next. Sounds a little double-minded. Sounds a little like one being blown about by the wind.

But I'm just a dumb novice here. I have nowhere near the incredible, almost God-like, knowledge BS has.

Bro. Strange...our love and appreciation for one another is never up for negotiation.
But I feel what is being seen here is classic "elder" mentality.. "Bless God...he have to hold on to the old time ways and the quartets and the rules and the codes or we are just following the world".

My 83 year old Pastor once said....."Some of you that sing...I"m in the way....you very well could be".

I say keep the old adapt the new and be the church...It is possible.
