Where did that definition come from, anyway? I've never seen one like that in a dictionary. E.g., http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/religion:

I have to say this "relationship with Jesus Christ" that folks like to talk about seems very much like a religion by this definition. Besides, the also do have a whole lot of beliefs they hold to with ardor and faith!
