Years ago this happened to me and I continue to talk and sing and ended up in speech therapy for a few weeks. To protect my vocal chords, my body was smart enough to switch to using my false vocal chords and I had to go to speech therapy to retrain my voice to use my regular vocal chords.
So, from then on whenever this happens I do as they told me to back then, but I didn't listen - - I rest my vocal chords.

Will do. The lack of positive results and increasing loss of voice was starting to tell me that even as hard headed as I am.
