I know that there are some people I love and have great respect for and that is ok for you to feel this way about your pastor.

We need to realize that they may be great in some aspects, but they are still men. Men are subject to failures, mistakes and flesh.

You are glorying in this man's flesh and what he has done. Paul said in this flesh, there is no good thing. He also said, let no man glory in man. Most people are looking for a man of God to serve and follow. The Gospel of John 1:12 says But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.

Instead of following and obeying a man of God, you have the capability of becoming a man of God and living on your own spiritual food by following Christ for yourself. See Romans 8:14.

You say that you are motivated to obey out of love. What love are you speaking about? Do you believe that you are obeying Christ by obeying your pastor? Hebrews 13:17 is what you go by? You want to be ruled and not be free. A person who is ruled is not free in Christ.

Perhaps you are correct in that you need to obey a man because you are not ready to receive the things I have to say from the scriptures like Hebrews 5:11-14.

Do not the mistake of saying that every man needs to be in obedience to another man. Also, don't take the obedience to the extent that obedience to man will lead to disobedience to God.

Galatians 4:1-3
Now I say, that an heir that as long as he is a child differeth nothing from a servant, though he be Lord of all;
But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the Father
Even so we, when we were children we were in bondage of elements of the world.

My question is...why do you seek to be in bondage to the elements of the world when you have the power to become a man of God?

At one time in my life as a young Holy Ghost filled man, I was you. Now I am mature and set free from an organized church system. If it happens to you like it happened to me, the weaning process from the organized church system will not be pleasant, but necessary for your spiritual growth.
Beating it to death there a little Jabez? Perhaps Joe is young, perhaps he is young in the Lord or has other reasons for following his pastor... but he is not you and you are not him... To insinuate that you have risen above him in some way is not just unkind but comes across as haughty.
