It was written by Blind Willie Johnson, a blind itinerant blues guitarist (one of his recordings was included on the Voyager spacecraft by the way) back in the 20s.
The song has undergone a gazillion modifications. In fact, it is often modified on the spot extemporaneously by whoever may be singing it. It is a common "praise song" in holiness, pentecostal-holiness, and pentecostal churches.
The Oneness version, of course, is the best.
"He's God in the Father.
He's God in the Son.
He's God in the Holy Ghost,
and I know these three are ONE,
I know God, is God,
and God don't never change!
I know God is God...
And JESUS is His name!"
(yes, the CORRECT Oneness version says "God don't never change")
I've never heard 'don't never', and that's a double negative, which really means 'does ever'......LOL!
