Having been to many conferences through the years, including camp meetings and such, I have noticed the vast amount of over weight people in this movement. Please no one take offense. I was pretty large until losing all this weight. I do not mean to put anyone on the spot of anything.
Why do you all think that being over weight is common here? Is it all the buffetts? LOL Just curious. I was at church last week looking around and about 90-95% of the people there are overweight or not physically fit at all. I am not picking on over weight people there are skin and bone people in this movement too. Just curious why you all think that physical fitness it not a common thing in this movement? It might only be the people I know, but what say ye?
They don't dance.

Very wise statement. Again I am not trying to stand on a soap box about this, but it certainly is a problem in our midst. It is a wonder that more of our ministers are dying in the pulpits. But it might be cause they spend more time at the table eating than other things. JMHO

I think reasons are, we sit around too much now. The old folks
use to do a lot of gardening and physical work. Also, like Tpew
mentioned. they are putting a lot of chemicals in our food
Good going too. I went from close to 250 down to about 213-215, fluxuating back and forth. Went from 42 waist to 36. I have gained about 20 lbs in muscle. I lift often. Cardio is 3 times a week also. When I lift I lift heavier than most people I know. I want to be built but not built enough to compete in the Mr. Universe body building championships.
I do weights/cardio about 3xs a week and have just started doing Cardio on the alternating days.
I don't want to get big, just toned and stronger.
My reps on bench press went from doing 70lbs to now doing reps with 100lbs.
So it is working.

JT, I do not know how many of these type of people I saw come into church- They start out all skinny and in 2-4yrs they gain all kinds of weight!
Almost happened to me!
That is true too. I have also always contended that when a person kicks one addiction, no matter how horrible like drugs and such, they always go to another addiction. Often time the 'new' addiction is not near as sinful or harmful as drugs and drinking, but often times that 'new' addiction is much stronger and harded to break. My brother-in-law beat crystal meth but can not kick dipping tobacco, which he started long after the meth was done with.

Way to go, Since March, I have lost about 25lbs, put on about 15 lbs muscle, my waist went from a 41 to about 37 and still going down. I work out 4-5 days a week. I still eat what I want, but not as much as stay away from sugar and fried foods, except on weekends. My goal is to get my BMI to about 25-27.

I think that we teach more in actions than we do in words. I mean we talk about reaching the lost, but rarely do anything about it. We talk about getting healthy and staying that way, but never take the first step towards a gym or weight machine. I think that part of the issue is that working out can get uncomfortable in a long skirt and long pants. I for one go to the gym in shorts and a shirt, but the women in this movement might find it tough to workout at a gym in the clothing they are aloud to wear. Another reason to do away with the extra biblical teaching on dress code, LOL
