No, I am not wrong. You are wrong, Sir.
In this situation, given her position and the fact that he was in uniform and not just holding door for a lady leaving the grocery store or something, he was wrong.
He was addressing an United States Senator!

This SGT knows his stuff-- what's the excuse for a BRIGADIER GENERAL?
COMPLETE EMBARRASSMENT TO HIS ORGANIZATION!
HE CAN KISS THE 2ND STAR GOOD BYE!
AND I AM NOT OVER REACTING!
He should have known better.
Now, I suggest that you correct your self righteousness and apologize to the Senator (via email) for attempting to correct her when she was correct from the get go.
That Senator was polite-- but many read their own prejudices into the situation.
I don't like Senator Boxer, but she was right in correcting him.
Maybe she could have done so in private, but had I not addressed him properly, you can believe that I would receive an "on-the-spot" correction and it probably would have not been polite.

Re: Her Highness Barbara Boxer
I don't think this applies for the situation. This protocol is for "Entertainment"....
For example some of the addresses are for "place cards" and "introductions"...speaking of a formal event like a ball or gala when say for example the same Officer would be introducing the Senator or the Senator and his or her spouse

- That the Holy Ghost is for today and is received by faith with the initial evidence of speaking in tongues.
- The saint will go on to strive to live a holy life, pleasing to God.

Nope, what I have linked is not "entertainment" specific.
You are mistaken. What I have posted is protocol for "Official Business" as well.
Again, the BG should know this.

Re: Her Highness Barbara Boxer
Here's a copy of the email I sent the Senator:
Good Evening Senator,
As a Republican, I really do not like your politics. With that out of the way, I think the correction you gave the Brigadier General was polite and to the point. He was wrong and he should have been prepared before addressing you.
Maybe he just made a simple mistake. However, Privates and BG's shouldn't make the same mistakes.
You could have avoided the negative publicity by correcting him privately, but I am sure that if I had made a mistake in addressing him, an "on-the-spot" correction would be immediate.
I have a link to a website that outlines the military protocol for a variety of situations. I can provide that to you upon request.
Take care and please feel free to change parties any time!!!

He should have known better.
The incident was quite embarrassing.
She is a Senator, and given the situation, the correction was not out of line.
She did not seem flippant to me.
Regardless, his mistake was inexcusable.
The military prides itself on customs and courtesies. He should have taken the time to remind himself of what's appropriate and what's not.
If he did and he just messed up, well, that's "acceptable" if you're Private Benjamin!
"I didn't know" or "I messed up" is NEVER ACCEPTABLE FOR A BRIGADIER GENERAL!!!

You have got to be kidding!

JD I can't believe you are defending this unbelieveable woman, that I hope and pray Ca wakes up and votes out before she helps to finish destroying America. Her ego know no bounds it seems.
