It was clear to me from reading a good bit of the press and watching just 2 episodes that last season they were pushing homosexuality and over the top sexuality in general, among other things that didnt sit well with me.
last night I didnt get any of that. It wasnt about sex. it was about really talented singers.
dont think i will watch anymore but I am at least happy this season doesnt have that vibe.

WHAT??? How in the world were they doing that? You're sounding like the OPII guy.

I fast-forward the guest singers on the results shows. I didn't see her. But they'll have stuff like that this year. In fact, Adam Lambert is appearing soon.

He's a former Idol... this is common. Because he's gay, and had a flaming career (hehehe) that was short-lived, it will be controversial with the Jerry Fallwell's of the world.

Ferd, it's "Truth-Time".
Fact #1.....There is an element of physical attraction in pretty much all pop music. Yes.....GASP......attractive singers are presented in attractive ways.
Fact #2.....THE SAME IS TRUE IN THE CHRISTIAN MUSIC INDUSTRY!!! I'll make a deal with you.....head down to your local Christian bookstore and find an overweight, unattractive, 45-year-old, female singer who has just been signed to a contract. You know what? It ain't there!!! At least "The World" has Susan Boyle.

I want to contest your point, but by doing so I have to name specific artists... can't do it

Your gaydar needs some serious work.
And for the record, Adam Lambert is my all-time favorite contestant in AI history, although Casey may be about to take his place. But I'm brutally disappointed with what Adam has done post-AI.

i watched this show a good bit in the early years... never have been a "regular" but it seemed to move away from that and last season was more about the agenda etc than the music.
glad to see that has shifted back to the music.
good for America.

Maybe there was a different agenda last year....who knows.....but last year was a REALLY weak year for talent. The winner carried a tune and that's about all one could say for him. So maybe they needed to spice it up in other ways to keep interest. To me, last year was just a bad year in general.

You're crazy...
He was a good contestant, for sure. But his flame died quickly.
Carrie, Kelly -- even Clay are some of my faves.
I thought Michael Johns was up there for me too.

I've been inside that world a little bit....not much, but enough to know who makes it and why, and who doesn't make it and why. It can be VERY disillusioning. Sex sells.....even in Christian music.

Do you have ugly friends, NOW?
No... there's definitely something to that. It's all part of the marketing package.
I think there's much more flex in Christian music though. Randy Phillips was not a sex symbol.
