You are right, if you don't make connections in the church you are attending, the experience can be shallow.
I wonder if you got to know some of the church people outside of the church building setting and could make friendships with people if that would make a difference, maybe go to lunch with another couple from the church?
People need more then just a church service, they need a relationship with other people.
