I was not interested in the Harry Potter movies until my son told me that they were similar to Lord of the Rings. So, we have started watching the series, will be on the third one next. The story lines are kind of predictable, but they are fun to watch. They have to watched as fantasy and not taken too seriously. The special effects and the creativity is awesome.
Having seen the first 4 movies years ago (and then stopping), we picked up the 8 movie Blue Ray box set and plan on watching all 8 one of these weekends -or more likely, over several weekends.
And I wouldn't say they are anything like Lord Of the Rings.
Hmmm, I have to disagree with you. I have a physical infirmity (muscular) that God has said that He will not heal. I have and will continue to live my life with it because of Adam's sin. Sin has had long term consequences for all of us. There are billions who are dead because of sin, and should the Lord tarry, trillions more will die.
A few decades is not long term, in the Christian doctrinal view. And the ones who die in sin are not the ones the frog is talking about. He's talking about Christians, who will (they believe) not be punished in the afterlife for anything they have done in this life.

They have some similarity, in the mythism and drama, I really liked the Rings, my opinion of the HP's is still incomplete.

Huh? 100% against rebellion? I guess you're not a patriotic American, then.

Good one, sir Timmy, good one...
If my kids we older, like 10, I'd probably be a little more willing to let them watch GWH; obviously, they'd be older and more mature, and probably understand the plot much better...
I think the only foul language (if that's even what one would call it) in Harry Potter is "bloody hell." Until my kids use it, or they ask what it means, "bloody hell" won't bother me in the least compared to other, more common words and phrases...
