I am a 3 issue voter. My candidate MUST be correct on these 3 issues. Where does Newt stand on:
1. Abortion. My candidate CAN support abortion ONLY to save the LIFE of the Mother.
2. Gay issues. Must oppose all Gay political action and at LEAST be able to verbalize they believe it is morally wrong.
2. Second Amendment issues. They MUST oppose the banning of semiautomatic weapons for civilian use as in the Clinton years.
I can live with a tax increase. Dont want one but how do we expect to pay for the many social programs we have committed to? Yes I think they should be slashed across the board but for now it is what it is. Tax issues are not a deal breaker for me.
I hear you Michael. Those are very important issues. Here’s where Newt stands:
Abortion:
Stop forcing pro-choice morality on religious organizations. (Jun 2011)
Immediately cease public funding for abortion providers. (Jun 2011)
Impeach judges who don’t abide by Constitution as written. (Oct 2005)
Most Americans are pro-choice and anti-abortion. (Jun 1995)
Gay Issues (These are addressed under Civil Rights):
Loyalty test for everyone, not just for Muslims. (Aug 2011)
I helped author DOMA; if it fails, amend Constitution. (Jun 2011)
Army & Marines wanted Don't-Ask-Don't-Tell. (Jun 2011)
Stop forcing same-sex marriage on religious organizations. (Jun 2011)
Helped oust Iowa justices who approved same-sex marriage. (May 2011)
ACLU lawsuits designed to drain resources of Boy Scouts. (Feb 2008)
Five justices banned school prayer against American majority. (Dec 2006)
Foreign opinion has no relevance to US same-sex marriage. (Oct 2005)
Discontinue affirmative action programs. (Nov 1998)
ACLU has become eccentric and destructive. (Jul 1998)
NEA includes most bizarre & extreme misuse of tax funds. (Jul 1998)
1968: Led college protest over suppressing racy newspaper. (Jun 1995)
America is multi-ethnic but not multi-cultural. (Jun 1995)
Affirmative action OK individually, but not by group. (Jun 1995)
Half-sister, a lesbian lobbyist: "Newt promotes tolerance". (Jun 1995)
Second Amendment:
Don’t redefine Constitution with no individual right to arms. (Oct 2005)
Now, when it comes to taxation, I agree with you for the most part. However, corporate taxes hinder business and economic growth. This is part of the reason why our economy has become so stagnate. So, especially after Obama and the way this economy has gone, I think we need to free business of those things that hinder them from doing business here and generating jobs. It’s hard to protect the family without stable jobs. So I see this as tying into family issues.
He is the king of flip-flops, the emperor of hypocrisy, the czar of opinions a mile wide and an inch deep. Mitt Romney? Not by a long shot -- because when it comes to core values, conservative or otherwise, Romney tips the top of the belief-o-meter compared with Newt Gingrich. And it is a lesson conservatives should learn now, before the actual primary voting begins. For the Tea Party, for evangelicals, for the ordinary Joe and Jane who believe in American exceptionalism and hard work and God, for the like-minded concerned with the path of the Republic -- no Newt is good Newt.
Pressing… you do know that this is an opinion piece, not news, nor facts. When dealing with a politician who has been in politics and involved with policy making as much as Gingrich, you’re going to see a transformation over time. Because as times and circumstances change… so too must policy. The key is crafting policies that are Constitutional. Of course the politicians with less tenure look more “solid” to you. They’ve not been in politics long enough to have to adjust and rethink policy as much.
So, while the author of this article has the opinion that Newt is a hypocrite. I see Newt as a versatile leader who isn’t a mindless ideologue.
He has excellent policy and I notice you put out your comment without substantiating your claim.
Texas Monthly, who happens to be a liberal rag, laments that Perry has moved the state so far to the right that the Democrats can't win. We need someone to move this country to the right. He's the man to do it.
You don't get it either. lol
We need solid policies that address contemporary issues. Not a mindless philosophy crammed down everyone's throat. That's what both the right and left are offering on too many occasions.
Newt's an innovative thinker with ideas. That's a leader. Any dolt can take a page out of a right wing play book and "stick too it" to get your vote. lol

Start with Perry's tort reform. The trial lawyers are getting ready to come after him if he gets the nomination. That's one enemy that is good to have.

This is exactly how I feel about Newt's policies and ideas. It is worded so right, I couldn't have done a better job of it.
Quote:
Newt is to policy what Bill Clinton is to sex: I do but I really don't because "do" really means "don't" -- except when I say it means "do." This is why he can take the Tea Party line of opposing government energy subsidies while supporting green energy subsidies and ethanol, why he can attack Obamacare while promoting a government takeover of the health industry, and why he can appear "practically spooning" Nancy Pelosi in commercials about the need for government action on global warming while doing the same and opposite with the Tea Party. In public and private, Newt is entirely true...to Newt. Policy Newt is, Business Insider summarizes, the same as Married Newt, who "was leading the impeachment of [Bill] Clinton while diddling his Congressional aide."

Ummm... not grounded in reality. Newt's ideas are not pages out of the right wing play book. In fact, most right wing Republicans aren't comfortable with Newt because he is an innovative thinker with new and bold ideas. Your statement above only proves to me that you know very little about Newt's vision. READ HIS BOOKS.
We're talking about Gingrich. He knows Washington, and helped lead the Congress in shaping the nation already. He orchestrated a Republican take over in Congress. He got the Contract With America flying. He helped Congress balance the budget (for once in almost a generation) and helped with bills that led to financial prosperity and surplus under Clinton. He held Clinton's feet to the fire and the nation was prosperous.
Gingrich... he isn't the hopeful cowboy that Perry is... nor is he the nervous car salesman that Romney is. Newt is awesome!

You are reminding me a comment I read yesterday:
"If Newt would have known he would have captured the top GOP spot for President, he would have lived his life over to correct personal failure."
My response: "I am thankful that Gov. Rick Perry, not knowing that one day he would run for President, doesn't have to live his life over to correct personal failure. He has lived a life that has prepared him for the run."
And since they're willing to accept that he's simply made 30 years of "mistakes" which he has now apologized for, I think we need to point out that making 30 years of mistakes shows extremely bad judgment. (Not exactly a quality we want in our Commander-in-Chief.)

You're assuming a lot about Perry. What will you do if something ugly comes out about Perry's personal failures?

Thirty years of failures? ROFL!
The greatest failures Newt has is two failed marriages. The rest is political banter.
