It's a long story. I began to fellowship with some UC's in Florida in 1982, then joined the UPC in 1988 and then resigned my credentials, December 31, 1999. I continue to preach for some men in the UPC but mostly in Independent Churches that have an Apostolic foundation. They would NOT be classified as APOSTOLIC by many on this board as most do not adhere to the Wesleyan "Holiness" style of dress or rules of conduct. Most I preach for preach a strong Repentance message and they baptize in the Name of Jesus Christ and people are filled with the Holy Ghost but they do not teach the three steps FOR salvation.
I almost forgot to say - Everyone I have ever baptized in water in 61 nations - I baptized them "In the Name of Jesus Christ".

I don't think so.

WHO demanded Jesus die? The sinners? The Romans?

No. The answer is those who wanted Jesus dead were the religious righteous people of that day.

THAT is who the world was to Jesus. That is who crucified Jesus. The Pharisees of the day were the highest order of people espousing a love for God. Yet they were the very ones who killed him.
I have to add that they hated him because he taught a different doctrine than the chief Priests and Pharisees taught. They loved their lofty positions and was not about the give their religious positions up...even for the God they claimed to have worshipped. You see...they did not really believe God at all because they feared the Romans might take away their power over the nation...and of course the nation itself.

47 Then gathered the chief priests and the Pharisees a council, and said, What do we? for this man doeth many miracles.
48 If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.
49 And one of them, named Caiaphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all,
50 Nor consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.
51 And this spake he not of himself: but being high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus should die for that nation;
52 And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one the children of God that were scattered abroad.
53 Then from that day forth they took counsel together for to put him to death.
(John 11:47-53)

So...they set Jesus up. Things like this happen even today. What they did not know was that Jesus knew what they were going to do, for He said in John 10:

Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

Nothing wrong with living right.

What's wrong is when one doesn't live up to other people's expectations and teachings...and then gets mistreated by the other members.

I love holiness. Standards are not synonymous with holiness. Often times srandards are synonymous with silliness.

You're Apostolic, to me if you preach the necessity of Repentance, Water Baptism in the Name of Jesus Christ, and the Baptism of the Holy Ghost with tongues following as evidence. Standards have far less to do with it.

If you have done all three but don't believe they're necessary I'd still say you're saved (not Apostolic because you don't hold to the doctrine), just misguided and you need to go back to the altar and as the old PAW church mothers used to say "go on down and get you some of that conviction".

Standards can therefore be set by the pastors as long as there is biblical reasoning behind them, and as long as those standards don't replace the plan of salvation. Those under that pastor are to be obedient out of love and out of a desire to serve God.

Anyway... dressing "holy" really has nothing to do with holiness.

HOWEVER!!!!! How you dress is a representation of a.) your God, b.) your church, c.) yourself. And yes it does have an impact on the Kingdom of God.
Hmm, and here I thought we were to run from traditions of men, being as how we're told that they'll end up replacing the message of salvation (just like it's doing here!). But I see that many Christians put themselves "under a pastor," prolly erroneously equating that with a Shepherd?

"Have no thought for what you will wear" gets put on a shelf here, IMO, so that you can institute a tradition.

What one wears has absolutely no impact on the Kingdom of God, and don't let anyone ever tell you different. GOD says "have no thought for what you will wear," which, if you will allow me, may be translated "Run from well-meaning people who even pay any attention to things of this nature. RUN."

David served God naked; wonder how long he might last in your "churches?"

Ps, I also agree with you! All the way up to the "by example" part.
