Perhaps she was too shortsighted to see how far-reaching the offense could go, but she was deliberately offensive.

She did what she did, but it wasn't out of malice and neither was she being serious.

She was being a douchebag.

Firing her may not be the appropriate response-- especially if she doesn't have a record of indescretions.
