The fact is many conservatives don't do the kissing thing all the while talking about how others compromise His word and not obey it. They have their excuses and reasons for why they don't have to kiss each other or drink wine instead of water.
The fact is, when you learn to study the bible you learn a principle called Hermeneutics. In Hermeneutics you must consider several factors like context, who wrote it and to whom, when, where, the grammar and types of speech.
When you realize that kissing was a customary way to greet someone
Mat 26:48 And he who betrayed Him gave them a sign, saying, Whomever I shall kiss, He is the one, lay hold on Him.
Mat 26:49 And coming up to Jesus immediately, he said, Hail, Master! And he kissed Him.
Luk 7:44 And He turned to the woman and said to Simon, Do you see this woman? I entered into your house, yet you gave Me no water for My feet. But she has washed My feet with tears, and has wiped them with the hair of her head.
Luk 7:45 You gave Me no kiss, but this woman, since the time I came in, has not ceased to kiss My feet.
Luk 7:46 You did not anoint My head with oil, but this woman has anointed My feet with ointment.
Footwashing was also a middle eastern custom as they walked around in sandals and their feet were dusty.
In America we generally shake hands and when more intimate we hug but not kiss. That is our culture...kissing was theirs.
People misunderstand the word and come up with all sort of doctrines...like snake handling.
I believe a lack of hermeneutics and the KJV lead to a lot of these problems
