Yes, it was very hard for my wife and me to leave. In our case, almost all our close family and friends were in the oneness pentecostal sect, some in ministry. The decision to leave wasn't quickly made nor was it joyfully made, but there was really no other choice. The oppression of the religion became had become so great. So much of what was being preached and practiced wasn't scriptural.
We lost relationship with friends and family and felt so alone, but the presence of God kept us through the process. After fellowship with many flavors of Christians over the past 25 years, I've found that there are both good Christians and bad Christians as it was in the oneness sect. We've made new friends, some which have walked a similar path as ours and established friendships with those we once viewed as 'lost'. The joy of fellowshipping with other children of God and recognizing that the body of Christ is a vast and wonderful body is worth the pain of leaving. For us, going back would be almost impossible.
I thank God frequently for bringing us out to bring us into fellowship with so many of His Saints we wouldn't have enjoyed had we not left the oneness sect.
