So, what do they study those four years in college? Do you know? I do remember the Parish would pay for the education. What about for a nun? Should I have gone for that? And if you ditched the "Habit", would you have to pay back the expense?

I read, somewhere, that 75% of Priests are alcoholics? Do you think that is true? I know our Priest liked drinking with my father, and also like visiting my Aunt. Guess that was better than an Altar Boy, huh?

Well, I do love me some whiskey! When I was in high school the local priest was giving wine to the altar boys. I'm not sure what they had to do for the wine. Someone found out and complained. The altar boys were upset because he stopped giving them the juice.

Wow, that's weird. Why would he do that? My mother would have been ticked. We used to go into the side room, off from the altar area, and steal hosts after church. I loved eating those!

They were kinda tasty, not!

The first time my then Baptist husband went to Mass with me he got in line for communion. I wouldn't stand next to him thinking he would be struck by lightning when he took the wafer.... I have never felt so relieved as I did when he made it back to the pew without choking to death on it....

Our priest always floated the keg at the bizarre and smoked a pack a day of Camels.

I forgot about the fear of taking Communion if you hadn't been to confession!!! Forgot all about that. LOL! Man, you just DID NOT take Communion if you had not been to confession - scary stuff!!

The first drink I ever had was at CHURCH!!!... in the Fellowship Hall from a keg. Just amazes me to this day! And CAMELS!.....we used to steal my Uncle's Camels and run out behind a tree in the pasture to smoke them - nasty cigarettes. My dad smoked Marlboro and drank Lone Star - never deviated from that. I have a picture of him standing my his tractor, cigarette in hand. I don't think I ever saw him without a cigarette. I sure miss him. He was the kindest man I have ever known, unless he was working cattle. You better get out of the way then!
