Garden is coming along. I just got done freeing some tomato and bean plants from their weed prisons. I haven't gotten much produce yet but should soon. I've gotten mostly salad fixin's.
How's yours?
I did miss being here too! Glad to hear your garden hasn't burnt up or froze up... I'm amazed that the temperatures here are staying so cool at night! My squash is doing great, we've had several meals with it, and some tomatoes are starting to ripen, so hopefully I will get enough to can!
Welcome back KeptByTheWord. Been missing you. Thought you were mad at all of us. So glad you had quality time with your dad. Cherish this time as the day will come when you will not have that opportunity. I speak from experience. Wish I could get in your garden!

Welcome back. The new knees are in place and walking has commenced! We could not find a home PT place on our Aetna insurance that would come to Podunk. Don can not drive to PT and I can not take him to PT and go to work... So he is doing home exercises on his own. I was leery but he seem to really be making progress. He is awesome.
The farm is still here so I've not had a lot of time for much else. Garden has all but burned up in the hot dry weather and the grass is not far behind if we don't get some rain. Fortunately I stocked in a lot of hay early on in the year so the animals will not starve I dried up all the goats and all but one Jersey cow to be ready for this so my milking chores are down to about 45 minutes twice a day and I can get feeding done in about an hour twice a day. Canned what I could, gave the rest away.
Glad you got to spend time with your dad. Those are precious moments for sure.
Titus 2 ..... he's got you ....... and I'm convinced you two ..... will make it thru! Prayers!

Poor Don! Must be tough having to do exercises on both knees, very time consuming! Will continue to keep him and you in my prayers!
I had to laugh about your garden burning up. My garden is just getting started here, and my concern is not about it burning up, but freezing up! It has been dipping down into the low 40s here at night, and perhaps even 38 degrees, and even with my greenhouse, my heat loving plants are trying to tough it out.
I have started to reap some squash, and peas from the garden, and some tomatoes starting to ripen... I only hope I'll have enough to can!
I did have a wonderful time with my Dad, a month sounded like a long time at first, but it is amazing how the days fly by, and then it was time for him to go.
Hummm... Maybe I should ship you fresh produce Nov-June... and you can ship me some July-October.
Yes, we did a piece on Chicken Salad you missed out on.
Then we did discussion on aquaponic gardening which may be idea for you if you have limited weather for growing and you have a green house.
My garden has about burnt up and some weird plague of red looking bugs has covered my garden and sevn dust doesn't seem to faze them.
Time to pick my figs and I see a bird eating one as I type. It keeps raining and they take one bite out of each fig.
It is very good to see you back. I wanted to pick up the phone and call Dad and tell him I had my garden was in, but he has been gone for a year now. Really miss him.

Thanks BT... no I wasn't mad at anyone... I even thought about yall at AFF quite often, wondering how everyone was doing, and I kept praying for those I knew had needs.
Had a wonderful visit with my Dad... we got a lot of "projects" accomplished together that my husband doesn't have the time to do. We shared a lot of stories, and especially about my Dad's childhood, some I've heard before, and some I've never heard. So it was a great time for us, and I do cherish each moments, because I know life is fleeting.
My garden is at its prime right now, just about ready to really produce, and I am excited about that! Just stop by anytime

Thanks Esther, I'll look for the chicken salad recipes. I'm hooked on the chicken salad you can get at Costco, they are so yummy.
Like I said above, my Dad and I along with my family had a wonderful time. It was fun to get his opinion on growing things in my garden too. I cherish each one of the memories we made.
Try using sulfur on the red bugs in your yard, we had excellent results when we lived in Texas fighting bugs with sulfur. I don't think it kills them, but they go elsewhere to eat, because they don't like the sulfur.
