I have a sneaking suspicion that it was someone other than an adult who wrote that. It reads an awful lot like many messages left in the comments section following a new story, blog, or review. In today's internet age, they are usually referred to as "trolls".

And being even more jaded than you Randy I wonder if the parents didn't write it themselves for the attention and sympathy it garnered. Otherwise what was to be gained by making it public?
