If God is in complete control, he's not doing a very good job. Seriously.
I was watching an artist paint a painting once. As the painting developed it looked terrible. However, as it finished completion everything began to come into view. By the last stroke, it was a very beautiful work of art.
I don't believe that we as mere mortals have a perspective whereby we can accurately judge God's work.
Of course, one's theology or perspective of God will dictate rather they believe God is under siege, or if God isn't doing a good job, or if little ol' humanity is messing everything up. One's perspective of God and theology may also bring one to believe and understand that God is in absolute control and all things are happening according to a divine plan that will coalesce in a triumphant demonstration of God's glory breaking forth in all creation.
So, did you sit on the porch of the movie theatre and engage with people exiting or did you just hand out tracts?
I don't have to see the movie to have an open door of communication.
No, you don't. And I haven't seen it yet. However, even now I've had some very deep conversations at work about the story of Noah, God's judgments, and even the end of the world. Of course, this lays the framework of revealing God's desire to save His children. So, even without seeing the movie, it's opened doors of conversation.
He is in control of the world, but He doesn't force me to line up with that. When I make my own decisions, I am the one in control.
Or... so you think. lol You might choose to take the long way home from work and suddenly... a flat tire. You wander into a small store to use the telephone to call AAA and end up in a powerful discussion about Jesus with a spiritually hungry cashier. Divine appointment. My friend... you may think you're in control. But you're not. God knew exactly what birds to make sing, the very tint of the sunlight, and how cool the breeze would need to be to persuade you to say to yourself, "I think I'll take the long way home through the country." Don't become so certain that you're in control. Because in one hour God could have an entire family on their knees in a prayer meeting over any number of things. It's a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Hey, don't you have an angel you named Joe? I'm just thinking that your perspective might be suspect.
lol

A man supporting polygamy. Who would have thunk?
I don't support polygamy. lol I'm just honest about it's role in ancient times.

I'm sure you want to legalize pot, right?
No. I'd curtail the power of GOVERNMENT. Prohibition has never worked.

I don't care if the story is produced by Hollywood. Why do we keep making up excuses for them? They have the power and have used that power to change the trajectory of this country. They have great influence in this country. We shouldn't make excuses for them.
It's not an excuse. It's against their nature. They are un-regenerate. That means expecting them to produce a holy biblical film would be like expecting a fish to walk onto the shore line.

The depiction of this movie is on a much grander scale than taking a politician's words out of context, which is totally annoying and destructive on the political field. Even in that, it does great harm to our country.
When The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was over, someone stood up at the front of the theater and started preaching! "Just like Aslan died etc. etc. Jesus etc. . . ."
Was that you, Aquila?
LOL
No, I was the guy in Downtown Dayton who stood on a bench at a bus stop, pointed my finger like a gun at a few gang mebers, and yelled, "BANG!!! A drug deal just went bad and you just got shot in the face!!! Where will you spend eternity?!"
The Narnia Chronicles is an allegory based on Bible themes such as - death, burial and resurrection, the law, and spiritual warfare. By that, it doesn't distort the story of Jesus Christ nor take the Bible out of context.
Yes. But critics even criticized it because it contained "magic". lol
If I am not in obedience to His Word and His Will, I am controlling my own life at that point. That doesn't mean He loses total control of the world or my life in the end. But, there are times where we can take our life into our own hands.
And in that moment, God either brings us crashing to our knees, convicts us, or permits us a time of rebellion before the chastening begins.
Even when you brazenly go your own way... it's because God has permitted you to do so. Sometimes, God will take a self assured man, knock him off his horse, speak to him, and blind him, to get that man to make the decisions God intends him to make.
Proverbs 19:21
English Standard Version (ESV)
21 Many are the plans in the mind of a man,
but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.
How dare you tell me what not to waste my money on. I wasted my money on Fireproof and everything else Kirk Cameron has done, and I'd proudly do it again.
