Why are some of my brothers so afraid to think a little? What is so horrifying about the possibility that God is being understanding and merciful as his people still dig out of a thousand years of catholic darkness? By the looks of it some of yall are still in catholic darkness since you think you can forgive sins like a priest.

I have not read all the posts. Sorry if I missed something. But a straw man is intentional, but my post was not intentionally twisting your view.
Let me get this straight. You are saying baptism is necessary. But you are questioning the mode of baptism when the bible is very plain about it. It is in Jesus' name. The apostles said that over and over again. Are you saying that if the mode is not right there is still salvation?
It's like saying we are told to walk up Main Street to get the Post office, and people walk down Fifth avenue, and they still get to the post office?
It has nothing to do with not thinking.
Invoking the name of Jesus is important. Try casting a devil out without doing so.
I noticed you spoke of the person being baptized does the invoking.
What do you say about neither doing the invoking? The Name need not be mentioned?
