Jesus is bread of heaven. When asked what work they must do, the people were told by Jesus the work is to BELIEVE. They weren't believing. They asked for signs, but faith is evidence of things not seen. And He said belief is like eating his flesh and drinking his blood. It gives eternal life. Not works of fleshly labour. But it is belief! And that hives all the praise to GOD who did the fleshly work of Christ's death on the the cross, and not praise to us for fleshly works to earn righteousness.
These folks are trying to bypass the cross to accommodate everyone! But that makes them thieves and robbers going into the sheepfold a different way than through the door, Christ. THROUGH, like a door, Christ.
