NOTE TO THE READER:
This guy doesn't even believe in PTSD. He doesn't even believe in how trauma can effect brain chemistry. Because only 2 in 10 veterans are diagnosed with PTSD, he believes that you're just weak and it's all in your imagination. He'd tell you to just get over it already. He'd brow beat you, mock you, and throw your past at you as a weapon to humiliate you for pure enjoyment. He'll leave you hopeless and hurting, and should all your payers for healing not be answered immediately, he will leave you feeling like YOU failed, yet again.
How do I know? That's exactly how he has treated me. Go back and read it. It's all there.
Now, as Christians, we should seek healing from the Lord. But if your healing tarries, seek good solid professional help. A vet commits suicide evey 65 minutes. And victims of serious physical, emotional, and sexual abuse suffer just the same. Those who have survived traumatic experiences can suffer just the same. This isn't something that only effects veterans. This isn't anything to play with. God often uses counselors like He uses doctors. Don't allow this man, or any other person, to make you feel weak, less Christian, or unspiritual for seeking professional help. The Bible says,
Proverbs 11:14
Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
Jesus is your Wonderful Counselor. He is your first go to. However, sometimes He chooses not to act, only to humble us to turn to another through which He will work. Sometimes, there will be a multitude of counselors. So, if you've prayed a thousand times, wept in the night, watched relationships suffer, watched your health deteriorate, suffered from lack of focus on the job, or contemplated suicide, seek help, allow Jesus opportunity to work through a professional, there's no shame in this.
Father, I pray for those suffering through the inner horrors of this very real but invisible wound of both body, the brain, and soul, the mind. I pray that you will allow healing virtue to flow, rather it be through divine healing or through the counsel of a professional. I pray that you comfort and lead all of us along this path of healing through the loving grace and power of your Spirit. I pray against every thought of suicide, every oppressive spirit, every ignorant and religious spirit, every spirit of hopelessness, and I plead the blood of Jesus over every episode of PTSD, I pray that forgiveness, grace, and your divine love will cover our brokenness, sins, and failures relating to this very real condition. Let us know that we are loved with an everlasting love. Cast out shame. Cast out discouragement. Lead us to healing through your Spirit. And I pray this prayer in Jesus name. And I praise you for all that your about to do in our lives. Amen
