I understand that the Apostle Paul preached the gospel freely (without charge) so that he would not be a burden to the people that he was ministering to. It was not always the case, but it seems to be generally the case.
And I don't believe that the Apostle Paul was preaching tithing. I do believe that he was teaching that the ministry should be supported. Some people jump straight to tithing, as though it's the only way to support the ministry. It is not.
