I just drove through Westphalia last week (that's all anyone does, drive through lol).
I remember that old Tabernacle well.
Open to the elements, bugs flying everywhere, hotter than all get out, mosquitos the size of eagles, the humidity of that boggy swamp all over us, bunks like a horrible POW camp.
But it was so much fun, and it was where I first KNEW that God had called me to preach.
It scared and excited me.

I remember when Bro. & Sis. McCarty preached a revival while she was fighting cancer.
I remember when Bro. Chuck and Sis. Laurie Colgrove preached one of their first, if not their first revival at our church.
I remember when Bro. & Sis. Denny preached revivals for us...they sang and preached...and Terry was so cute!!
I remember Bro. MM Hudson and Bro. AF Miller preaching from huge color charts...though I was young, I would sit and listen so intently.
These memories are rich and I have no doubts that the Word I received left a mark on my life that cannot be measured in this earthly economy.
How about you?!
Do you have any memories which made an impact on your life?!
Did they in any way prepare you or influence you in service/ministry?!

Barb,
This is for you..........
I remember when we'd be at Family Camp, with the open sides, and the bugs would fly in...........and the train would come thru and the whistle would blow.
One night, a preacher was preaching, can't remember who, but he was reaching a crescendo in his message, and the train was coming, so he was preaching louder, and louder, and he said, "And one day the TRUMP will SOUND" and right at that moment the train whistle blew! People ran to the altar, couldn't have been planned any better!
I remember Youth Rallies on Saturday nights, when we'd fill the church bus up, and they would serve food after service, and the smell of sloppy joes would waft up thru the stairways.........
I remember the Endtime bumper stickers.......

That EXACT thing happened at Ark. camp.
Is that a prerequisite of building a camp grounds? It has to be near the train tracks!!!! There were kids literally knocking other kids out of the way to get to the altar!!!!
And horseflies as big as Volkswagens!

First of all, thank you all for keeping this going today while I was working a 10 hr. shift...the remembrances are so neat.
Michael, seems like I remember it being Bro. Carl Denny who preached that night.
That old tabernacle was really something, and I do remember those sides that pulled up...and do you remember that no one could leave the tabernacle until Bro. Starr held up the 'Dismissed' sign?! LOL!!
And the Youth Rallies...they were so much fun. Every church in the district would represent with a testimony or song.
I remember when I knew the name of almost every pastor in the state and the city they were in...not anymore.
Michael & Margie, remember Bro. Jordan and Bro. Jack Ruff?! And how about Bro. Boxwell and Bro. Sigourney?!
Them there were the days...

And, how about those wooden plank pews? If you moved the wrong way, you would get pinched!
And, I remember all the pastors you mentioned above, except Bro. Boxwell..........Bro. Sigourney laid carpet in a couple of our houses!

I can't really remember, Sis Margie. Was a long time ago. We drove up for that one service and got there when they were dismissing. I really don't know why we went. we had to know we'd miss the whole service. But, back then, we didn't do a whole lot of thinkin'. Still don't do much!

Re: I remember when...
At Illinois camp, a lightning bolt struck the big tree right outside the tabernacle during service, and everyone went running to the altars. It was major revival!!!
