Just some thoughts. I don't believe in luck. I do believe in chance and coincidence occasionally, but I believe that the Child of God's life has been turned over to Him and He is at the helm, working it all together.

They can't see the good in life and they will only see what is wrong....their actions and their expectations will be along the same lines....

Just like those who see the good in life... They will find joy in hard times and they will make it thru... Their actions will also follow their outlook on life. They may mess up, but they will see it as a learning experience and they will make the best of it... It's not because they have good luck...

Good posts!!! I agree!

Attitude has a lot to do with "luck."

Luke 13:1-5
"1There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."

I think Jesus was saying these folks were unlucky. If you are under the tower and it falls, t is not your lucky day.

Re: Truthfully...Do you believe in luck?

I'm sure you've heard of "The Secret." At first I was not going to read it, but have, and it does make you think. Although I don't believe in a lot of their "universe" junk, etc., as a faith believer in Jesus Christ who has seen God do some great things, I've also witnessed people who seemed to be magnets for disaster--no matter how much we prayed for them.

Many of the concepts on the Secret are very biblical and positive thinking rehashed.

I certainly am determining to stay far away from negative people (at least in my next life). I want to attact "good things" my way!!!

But if you are a people watcher...you can truly see that some people really do have bad luck. What do you attribute this to? You can only partially blame the person involved...something else is surely going on, but for the life of me I have no answer to this dilemna.

Any thoughts on this subject?
I don't believe in 'luck'. I would even go so far as to say that a belief in 'luck' is a practical denial of God's sovereignty.

There is such a thing called 'Providence', that which God 'provides' (hence the term). It refers to God's ordering of events and situations according to His wisdom and His plan.

There is also the fact that our actions have consequences, that not only affect ourselves but also others as well. The drunk who goes driving at 3 am high as a kite and who wrecks his car into a house killing the sleeping occupants, is the cause of their death, not some case of mysterious 'bad luck'.

'Chance' is even worse than 'luck'! (No offense to Chancellor! lol)

'Luck' comes from the pagan idea of 'Fortune', a pagan goddess who it was believed was responsible for what we call 'luck' or a person's 'fortune' (ie the events in their life, good and bad). Chance however implies pure randomness, which is a practical admission of atheism.

Now, of course the word 'chance' is often used to simply mean 'what happens' with no thought of true randomness, but that's a semantic issue.

You don't believe in "pure randomness"? I know a teacher of Chaos Theory (know OF him, not him personally) who would love to sit down with you.
