Yeah, he is such a scholar and prophet that he can divine the religious background and accomplishments of everyone on here...

Sir, you might be painting yourself in a corner with comments like that one.

Re: It's Either You or Me

BTW, St. Matt, there's a big difference in having to use a weapon for self defense and living by the use of one. Having to kill an intruder while defending your family would hardly rise to the level of "living by the sword." If you need some actual examples of men who lived by the sword try reading up on David. Killing was a way of life for him. That's why God told him he couldn't build the temple, because he had made killing a way of life. I remembered all that without even opening my Bible. Can you believe it? Pretty good for someone who has never given a Bible study, huh? Anyway, I know you aren't the one who said that.

So, yes, I can love my enemies, but not more than I love my family. You're a father, aren't you? Are you trying to tell me you would sit there and do nothing to stop a man who was raping your wife or your daughter (if you have any)? Even if you didn't have a gun, wouldn't you pick up whatever you could find to beat on him until he stopped or was dead if he kept coming after you or them? How about a lamp, like someone else brought up? Would ya grab one of them? Or would you just sit there and command this knucklehead to stop in Jesus name? If you did try that and it didn't work, how far would you be willing to go to save your family?

Luk 21:12 But before all these, they shall lay their hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to the synagogues, and into prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake.

I believe OP is right.
We need to trust in God & much more as the day approaches.
Funny thing is, we needn't not worry about the threat we can see, "I will come and get you."

Rather it is the threat from the unknown.
Remember the brother in Louisiana who was in Baton Rouge & he got lost?
A man for no other reason probably that he was white blew him away right there.

If it is your time, it is your time.

Trust God.

I do every time I get into a car,
I trust God every time I send my kids to School.
I trust God every time I go anywhere.

In Vancouver there is a turf war on because of drugs.
Recently two people were blown away in thier cars because of mistaken identity.
Didn't see it coming.
They called it a professional hit!

I personally believe the reason David could not build the temple was because of the blood of Uriah. Not when he fought for Israel.

I didn't think of the deaths because of his disobedience, but you have a point about that as well.

Re: It's Either You or Me

Man, you two sure remember more details than I do. I remember what happened with Uriah. I also remember God telling David he couldn't build the temple because of having too much blood in his hands, but I don't remember Him saying it was because of Uriah and the blood of innocents. Guess I will eventually need to go back and read that part again.

Re: It's Either You or Me

Ok. Found it. This is the scripture I was thinking about:

1 Chron 22:8 (KJV)
8 But the word of the LORD came to me, saying, Thou hast shed blood abundantly, and hast made great wars: thou shalt not build an house unto my name, because thou hast shed much blood upon the earth in my sight.
