If you do not agree with his post-say so.

Don't attack OP in this way.
No your right its cool to refer to me as one of the sons of Sceva, but responding in kind is out of bounds. gimme a break.

Spare me, Ron. OP has basically said we don't have the Holy Ghost. That is insulting.

So it's okay for her to ask this, but my question was irrelevant? Not fair - I'm telling.

Thanks for the compliment though!

Re: It's Either You or Me

Just to put this verse into a New Testament perspective.....

Matt 5:43 Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.

THIS is what the old testament called for (eye for an eye)

Matt 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

THIS is what Jesus calls his new testament church to (Love)

So I ask again, can one fulfill the scripture by loving their enemy, blessing the one cursing you, doing good to the one hating you, and praying for the one despitefully using and persecuting you.....................and at the same time blow them away with a shotgun??

The seven sons of sceva had no power because they had no Holy Ghost.
Now if you have the Holy Ghost, you don't need a gun.

Trust Jesus or trusty Guns?

Again Rico, I don't see him as seeing that.
He is saying (I may stand corrected by him) that if we have the Holy Ghost we don't need to trust in guns.

That is the simple point.

Notice I did not say you can't own a gun.

Wrong that was not an eye for an eye. An eye for an eye was not a sadistic rule but rather set limits on what one was allowed to extract in terms of punishment. Jesus was telling the people that unless their righteousness exceeded that of the Scribes and Pharisees they had not obey the intent of the law. The Beatitudes is an example of how the Pharisees fell short of the law not a guide for how we live today.

As far as me, I have only known the Lord for a little over 25 years.

In that time I have failed him--but not once has he failed me!
