Please, don't give him any reason to add even more years to the three he wants to mandate. lol

For Gods sake dont bring more scriptural evidence of a mans requirement to be founded in truth,, seasoned in experience before being handed a pulpit... Rico does not want you to bring any more truth than has already been brought... it might actually lend credence to the argument

More hogwash! If you keep this up I'm gonna hafta nickname you Porky! You're reading things into the Bible that aren't there and trying to come up with some rule or something to give you more reason to slam the church over you not liking something. I gotcha all figured out, Vaughn. Your way is the holy way.

I just wanted to point that out since most people think Paul was the only APOSTLE to the GENTILES and nobody else and that is far from the truth. Actually I consider Paul a messenger(Apostle) not a Apostle as of the twelve.

Rico, don't you think there is some merit to requiring young ministers to work in the church, study God's Word, etc., before they set out on their own? Even if there were no scriptural support (which there is), there are practical considerations.
Would you want one of your children to be thrown to the wolves, so to speak, without you having the chance to make sure they were actually ready?
Someone going into ministry at too young of an age can lead to all sorts of issues and spiritual deficiencies. Ask me how I know.

Of course I think there's merit to it MB. I won't get back into prison ministry myself until I know I have some form of accountability put in place. I believe in mentors and letting your pastor help ya out with ministry. What I have a problem with is trying to say the Bible requires a 3 year period, or any specified amount of time, when it does no such thing. Jesus entire ministry was only 3 1/2 years and in that timeframe he won over and sent out preachers to preach. He either did it only in the last 6 months of His ministry, or He didn't see the need to mandate a timeframe for someone going into ministry. It isn't the principle I am against. It's legislating a timeframe I am against.

There's nothing wrong with legislating a time frame if there is a need for it... and if the ELders believe there is a need then the young ministers should respect that and wait for their seasoning to be completed.....

Re: It is wrong to Ordain new Christians as Minist
Dr Vaughn,
I will be glad to answer your question,
Q. Do I believe that my leadership was using wisdom by allowing me to preach at that age?
A. Absolutely! It was very obvious to all, that I had a calling upon my life, and I was not being ordained at that point, simply being trained and developed.
Personally I think we are confusing two completely different concepts. The first is being "ordained" and the second is the development of ministry. To "ordain" a novice would be to disregard the scriptural warnings against such. To fail to train a young minister would also represent a disregard for the Word of God. Training is not just book knowledge but practical application as well. (i.e. preaching, teaching, and other aspects of leadership training under the direct supervision of a seasoned pastor.) JMHO
