Also, one can protect themselves without using lethal force. Escape or ruse is always preferable over any form of physical violence. Wrestling an attacker until subduing them might be acceptable.
But if God brings you to it...he'll take you through it.
I remember watching Little House as a boy and being baffled about why the paw refused to fire a weapon on occasion when most men would. Same with the Amish.
There is a point when one's Christianity goes to the next level...and the men are separated from the boys.
