Also, one can protect themselves without using lethal force. Escape or ruse is always preferable over any form of physical violence. Wrestling an attacker until subduing them might be acceptable.
But if God brings you to it...he'll take you through it.
I remember watching Little House as a boy and being baffled about why the paw refused to fire a weapon on occasion when most men would. Same with the Amish.
There is a point when one's Christianity goes to the next level...and the men are separated from the boys.

It is only because of Christian men who realized that it was their
Christian duty to take up arms in order to kill their oppressors that pacifists can enjoy today the
UNPRECEDENTED FREEDOM to bask in smarmy, self-righteous, pacifist opinion.
I am perfectly okay with people like you and the Quakers holding such view. I am NOT OKAY with attempts to convince others that their view is wrong! Pacifists need to realize that they enjoy their security, safety, freedoms, and freedom from molestation both by the state and by thugs, only due to the fact that other Christians were willing to take a different stand. Show some gratitude. And, if you convert everybody, France will invade.
What you're doing is analogous to criticizing farmers with your mouth full.
