Awww, Abby. My heart aches for your family tonight. May God bring you comfort as only He can do. He cares when we hurt - even when we hurt over a puppy.

I'm sorry about your puppy! There is just something special about the unconditional love that a dog gives.

A friend of mine used to work for a vet. She said when a puppy comes in with Parvo they have to get everyone out of the waiting room, sterilize it and change their coats. They have to be very careful they don't take it home to their own pets.
I understand Jeff's loss and pray you find a new puppy that you all can love just as much.

DO NOT get a puppy for at least six months. Parvo is in the yard and will be for some time now.
Get a cat. I have one you can take.

Once you get Parvo, it stays for a long time. When we have a dog come in with it, we have to spray this cleaner stuff we use and shut the door let it "soak" for an hour or so then mop it up. When we leave, since I have dogs, I have to wash my shoes off with that cleaner, because it is so contagious that I can bring it home on my shoes. I have to wash my clothes immediately.'
So, yes, wait to get another dog. Or if you get one, make sure that it has had all of it's vaccinations first.

Your right, I had forgoten about that. But is it six months or a year?

That's what the vet said. We've done our best to sterilize, but it's nearly impossible to kill in the soil. So any puppies we bring in for quite some time will have to be 6 months or older, and/or have had all their immunizations. *sigh*
Yeah, I knew there was a problem when the tech took the booties off her feet, and sprayed her shoes with bleach water before stepping out of the room, and the vet didn't touch the puppy at all, because she wasn't gloved up.
My husband is still mopey. I'm thinking about getting him another puppy, (maybe for Christmas?) but not right away, and I'm going to look into some rescue foundations.
