They were NOT in anyones face. Please, are you playing obtuse now? Did you read the article or not? They had good reactions UP UNTIL some roudy gays came out of a bar and made them a target. They held no signs. They were not preaching. They were praying and singing songs and had some results!

I never said they were in anyone's face. Not once. In fact, I said from the video it appeared that they were peaceful. (Or something to that effect.)

AGain....did you read the article? They were NOT standing in front of the gay bars with signs...they were not preaching...they did not have loud speakers chanting "Gays are going to hell"...they were not in front of the bars...they were in the same area...where they had been many times before, praying and singing songs....I ask again, which group of sinners should we reach? Just non-gays? Even if one thought nothing wrong with being gay, even a gay christian might expect there to be sinners in their midst that need Jesus.

I read the article from beginning to end--twice--AND I watched the video. I never said they were doing ANY of those things. Did you even read my posts? We should reach ALL sinners--of course. I have just witnessed groups take political leanings and throw a religious twist to it, and call it the work of God. I'm suspicious since this is a state where the gays have just lost some "rights" that they wanted, and they are presently blaming Christians for that, so it seems like bad timing. I never once said or even implied that the group of Christians in the VIDEO did anything wrong. And I did specifically say that the gays in the video were exhibiting "evil, godless, disrespectful" behavior. Did you read that part of my post?????

That is all beside the point now. Are you assuming these people did not pray and fast? Hellow but the issue WAS...the one I responded to...is that we are NOT JUST to pray and fast, which is what was being suggested. I don't know what makes you think you needed to take me on here, but you are way off base.

Nope. Not assuming anything. I said several times that there wasn't enough info in the article to determine one way or the other. From all appearances, it APPEARS that the Christians were peaceful and the gays were acting like depraved idiots.

I don't know what YOU are referring to but what I am referring to is what THOSE gays were doing...SHAME ON YOU...Yes shame on the Christian for standing on the sidewalk and praying and singing songs. Those gays are calling the Christians evil for doing their good....and it seems some here are casting doubts on those Christians too...I didn't say you did.

What's so surprising about that? My post wasn't framed as a total disagreement with you or refutation of everything you've said! My goodness, Prax. Why are you so heated? Not everything in my post was necessarily about the group in question, specifically. I was trying to bring out the point that many Christians HAVE been militant, in-your-face, offensive, and yes, UNChristian, and so they give even peaceful Christians a bad name in advance!!!

Are YOU bored? Why else would you post on an internet forum, unless you have nothing better to do? I know I'm not on here unless I have free time...so yeah...pretty much anytime I'm online it's because I'm bored for the moment and I'm looking to entertain myself.

Call them whatever you want. I don't care. I take acception though with the idea we should not try to reach out to all sinners, including Homosexuals and that we should just hide in caves and pray instead.

Call who whatever I want? The people in the video? I wasn't calling them anything at all. Who said we shouldn't reach out to sinners? What makes you think ANYone who has posted on this thread believes we should exclude homosexuals from evangelism? Who said we should hide in caves and pray? PRAX...DUDE...I didn't say they WERE. LOL!!!! Try to get the big picture here. This is not just about the article/video you posted. 1. We're going to deal with this more and more 2. Christians have been militant and offensive in the recent past (THINK: Westboro Baptist Church for ONE), 3. Christians need to be evangelistic, but it needs to be led by God and not just their good motives, and 4. There is the recent political issue that is not lending a positive factor to this scenario.

More confusion...what does THAT have to do with this group? You know they were pharisees? When and where did they drag anyone anywhere? WHo is dragging sinners here? Please I have no idea what you are trying to accomplish here

Trying to accomplish? What are YOU trying to accomplish, other than spreading the word about something that concerns you? (And nothing wrong with that, btw) Obviously this wasn't a thread you intended to inspire discussion, THAT is very clear.

Christians in general, over the centuries, have sometimes taken a tact with sinners that is very UNChristlike, much like the Pharisees who brought the adulteress woman to Jesus hoping to see her judged, and ended up being shamed themselves, while she was offered a merciful hand. When we DO reach out to sinners, it shouldn't be to TARGET them, but to MINISTER to their needs. Jesus ALWAYS met the needs of the people He met, both physical and spiritual. He reserved His most crushing judgment and rebuke for hypocrites--not sinners. And my point in saying that was NOT to call the Christians in the video "hypocrites"--FAR from it. But rather to point out that when you reach out to people who are essentially damaged goods, you'd better have the gentle hands that Christ reserved for those who NEEDED a physician.

Furthermore, these people are sinners. Plain and simple. They need God. I do not expect them to behave as if they have Him. I'm not horribly shocked by their actions. Disappointed? Sure. A little frightened or disturbed by it? Maybe. But shocked? No.
