Well in doing so they do not realize they are stressing out the saints.

Many of these men and woman burn out and the saints lose thier way as well.

There needs to be a balance and less stress coming from those in position.

I understand they are looking for success and it is their career.

But others have their career and goals to accomplish as well...

When many times as the pastor, the music minister have their sites on a larger church opportunity or the music minister is looking to be courted by a larger church.

The saints have more involvement in the real world and have to live and move it's crazy and demanding economy and timetables...
I agree!! A lot of pastors foget that some saints have to work. Some crazy schedules and some 60 -80 hours a week. I despised the evangelist that would have a revival and blast the saints for not swinging from the rafters after rushing to make a service and coming straight from work.

I agree.

Where are most of them.

I remember Mark Travis in the UPCI in the mid-late 80's.

Screaming that folks were not responding to God's annointed word..

Or in other words his great preaching.

When all it was most folks are just glad they could make it on a Saturday night.

By the way does anyone know where the old gun slinger (Mark Hanby rip-off) evangelist Mark Travis is these days?

At one point didn't he date like a woman from each of the 12 tribes at one time???

Many of thoe evangelist are no where to be found...

Some of them may even be wearing orange...

One of my good friends who works offshore 14/14 attends a ALJC church that I was a member of for a short time. The other day he called and told me the pastors wife asked his wife for his tithes!

Re: One of the Biggest Mistakes

I have a friend that his job as Assistant Pastor was to visit all the elderly shut-ins to collect their tithes. He enjoyed getting to know the elderly saints and began spending too much time with them as he'd visit.

The pastor told him to collect more he was going to have to just get in there, get their tithes and move on.

That is pitiful!

Concerning the tithes:

Do we still have a levitical priesthood? Or still we should be giving tithes?

Paul wrote:

II Cor. 9:7, "Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity; for God loveth a cheerful giver."

There is no command to the NT believer to tithe.
Money was used for two things in the NT -- support the preachers/teachers and provide the needs of the needy saints (widows and orphans). IMHO, So much of church money goes to buildings and other things that essentially are not part of the Kingdom of God (this comment is directed at all religious organizations not just the UPCI).

No real problem exists over the use of "The Name" in everthing else done in the Church. Why then should there exist great controversy over the use of the "The Name of the Godhead" in water baptism?

Yes,

Who was that scripture directed to? Not NT believers

You didnt offend me. But you didnt start this thread as a "This is my experience" you started it with an indictment on all of the UPCI.

That needed to be addressed. Several of us did just that. The problem isnt with the UPCI it is with some of what you experienced several years ago.

and if you read further, you would have seen where I suggested that a mistake of the UPCI is having tolerated pastors who have brought a reproach on the organization.

ILG, I dont disagree with the idea that there are some problems with the UPCI. If you want to "help" someone who is feeling some imbalance, then deal with that. What ever your intentions were, you certainly made a clear blanket indictment of an entire organization of men who love God and love the work of God and love Gods people.
