Hey, it's not nothing!! That's more than 75% off!

Re: How to Save Money

I went to one of the nicer thrift stores in town today- I go there about 3 or 4 times a year. I bought a Khaki skirt from Talbot's for 3.95.

I had a super day. Or a super week. I'll start with Saturday. I went to the nearby town because my daughter had an eye appt. there. We went to JC Penneys first. I spent $161.25. That may seem like a lot of money until you realize that I got $1196.53 worth of stuff at full price. Please remember that this is stuff I won't be buying pretty much all year long and into next. I got 2 winter jackets, a fair amount of bedding, undergarments, shirts, sweaters, etc. This for the whole family. I also had a $5.00 off coupon for merchandise for signing up for their rewards program. (I will probably not use the rewards program.) Then, we went to Target. My husband had won a prize at his job- a goofy snowman that we took back to Target and got a gift card of about $40.00. So, I got some Pur filters (on sale), some milk, a couple of small clearance items and used the gift card for quite a bit of it.

Then today...I "had" to use up a 75% off coupon I bought over Christmas for a Salon before the end of Feb, so I scheduled a massage for today. A half hour massage there is $45.00. The coupon was worth $50.00 and I spent 12.50 plus shipping. I had $5.00 left over and they had some fancy clearance hair stuff that was $10.95 marked down to $5.95. So, I got the massage and hair stuff for about $18.00 total. That was cool.

I filled up with gas with a free gas card I got for using their credit card that we pay off every month.

I went to Quiznos for lunch...I had a free coupon for a small sub. You can get one too at:

http://www.millionsubs.com/Reg.php

Good sub.

Anyway, then I went to JC Penneys again. My husband could not wear 4 of the sweaters I got him and so I took them back and was refunded $24.01. And then instead of many items at $5.95 a piece they were marked down to $2.97!!! I could not believe it! Also, I had done a survey for 15% off next purchase and used that today too. So, I got $1044.00 regular priced merchandise for $74.88. Cool beans!! You may ask "How much can you possibly buy?" But remember, this is shopping I won't be doing for my son before school next year, that I won't be doing for my daughter, husband or myself at some other time! My husband got a lot of good, quality work clothes, I got a few items, my daughter....I got her some jeans for $1.97 each and a couple of sweaters.

So, that was JC Penneys. Then, it was off to Sears in the same mall. I had my eyes out for a good pair of dress shoes for my son. I found him a nice black pair. Was $68.00 marked down to $19.99. Then also in the mall, I found a nice pair of leather gloves for myself (been hunting for a pair that I like for a while) was $29.00 marked down to $5.79. Cool beans again.

On my way out I picked up a free Arby's Roast Beef Burger that could be bought with the purchase of one drink. I was thirsty. I figured it would be fine reheated with the McDonalds I planned to buy later on.

Back to Target. I had to return those $39.00 clearance shoes I bought for $4.34 because they didn't fit my husband. Bummer. So I picked up a couple of small items and was on my way.

I stopped at McDonalds and used two buy one get one free burger coupons and got some $1.00 fries.

All this was put on a credit card my husband will pay off at the end of the month and we will gain airline miles for using.

Yes, this was a stellar day.
Man!!!! You did good!!!!!!!! Although, I wouldn't eat at McDonald's with a free coupon or even if someone paid for my meal!

Good deal on the Nike's. I'm all into saving money after my $10 coupon. Okay, that's it for the year.

Re: How to Save Money

Bought some stuff from smarthome.com a while back, on a 10% off sale. Went through ebates.com, for a 5% rebate off the total. Used Discover, for another 1 or 2% (I forget) rebate.

Did I do good?

(Or should I have waited for the 20% off sale they had about a week later? )

There is always a better deal later on. You just have to be happy for what you got and move on to the next deal!!
