I have the gravest respect for the things of God. I have a respect that I really don't think you could begin to imagine nor understand. Ask your Superintendant about me. If he doesn't know me by name - just read him this post. Ask him what he thinks of the stands that have been forced to take.

I'm not going to let you guys forget that I spent 6 hours being grilled by Federal agents and local police because they thought all of the rest of you were a bunch of dangerous looney cultists. I stuck up for you then "Deadeye." I spoke up for you and I even made you look good.

I have no respect for small minded insecure tyrants.
PM me...and illuminate please....

Re: T.F. Tenney at the Journey (Mark Johnston's)

I have had a beard since the early 90's and have never had a problem. I know the general rules in the UPCI churches I attend and I am OK with that. It is the pastor's responsibility to set rules for the church and if I wanted to sing or take part on the platform I would find a church where the pastor allowed beards. In fact when I grew the beard the pastor (who had a beard) talked me into it.

Don't belittle pastor's and churches who don't agree with your weak idea of standards.

Does your pastors pastor allow beards or is your pastor a rebel?

Cool Re: T.F. Tenney at the Journey (Mark Johnston's)

Just to add to the facial hair saga:

My dad (b 1915) was saved in 1930. For most of his adult life he wore a mustache. It's on all of the old photos. Pre upc and after the merger. He was always faithful and participated in the choir and played a musical instrument.

Except for his career(WW II) in the army , he was only a member of the original church he was saved in.

In 1970 the church got another pastor. He "requested" that the board members not have TV's or facial hair.(possibly other "requests" also but I was gone from home)
That is when my dad shaved his mustache

Re: T.F. Tenney at the Journey (Mark Johnston's)

Maybe we are getting some of these proggressive pastors today becase some of them are starting to find out that that when we preach and consantrate only on the outside of the body and we are forgetting about the inside of man we raise up a bunch of pharecies with holyness on the outside and rotten eggs on the inside and the true meaning of Gods love starts to be rejected because every one is to busy worrying about what they are wearing or any other by law that might be preached.LOL!!!

Talking Re: T.F. Tenney at the Journey (Mark Johnston's)

With everyones joking about the women with beards, reminds me when I was a kid in church, and saw this ladie with more hair on her legs, than any man!!!!!

I remember thinking" Thats just not right!"

Later I was told her husband had been taught it was a sin for a woman to shave her legs.

TRFRANCE,

I promise this is the truth, and nothing but the truth!

The sad part is that her husband was a assistant to my Grandfather. PAPA tried to tell him it was not a sin.

Re: T.F. Tenney at the Journey (Mark Johnston's)

My wife's Dad wore a mustache and pastored a church in Missouri. This was back in the forties and fifties.
