pretty much. so long as you are cooking the really ripe ones.
Now if you have some that arent ripe. you fry them
smash them then fry them again. This is also very good and they taste more like a french fry.

In many countries that grow Plantains, the green ones are often used like a potato.
they are put in stews and soups, as well as like a french fry.

Cut the plantain in rounds (go with about a quarter inch in thickness? maybe a bit thicker?
Fry it.
then take a spatula and press it firmly and evenly until it just smashes flat but doesnt come apart.
then fry it again.
