You don't want any standards at all. Do you draw any lines in your life? Or is anything fair game with you. Can you tell me what you would consider a sin? You want to mock standards and people that are faithful to church? Do you pray or fast or do you have some sort of reason to not do that, as well as not dressing modest. Is your pastor in agreement with you, or is he helping grease the skids to your eternal destination? Do you even have a pastor? I think you need to wake up and realize that God demands Holiness both inward and outward. Would you wear a bikini to church? Why would you wear it in the world? Sorry, but you need to pray through and let God convict you of your sin.
1. Please provide scripture where God demanded outward holiness.
2. Don't use extremes like wearing bikinis or other such obviously immodest attire to make your point.

I hate it when conservatives are rude and offensive, judgmental and uncharitable, when making their point.
I dwell in the conservative camp, and it seems to me that if standards of dress make us closer to God, our attitudes and love should reflect that. I'm very embarrassed by judgmental, self-righteous attitudes coming from conservatives.

This subjuct sounds more like a reason to bash UPC than a concern with over weight people. Being over weight is a national problem not just a UPC problem. If you've never had a weight problem just count yourself fortunate but don't bash those who do. Overeating is not always the problem. (and I'm not overweight)

HO,
we can all dance around the May Pole with nothing but colorful streamers or we can contribute sensibly and hope to find other thoughtful folks among those who are instigators for the sole purpose of the entertainment value of contention.
The bikini reference is one way to get those who zealously advocate that "no outward standards exist in God" to acknowledge that somewhere along the continuum of choices involving how we present our bodies --we need to live consistent with the desires of whoever we call Lord.
We can continue to engage the carnally-minded sport of bashing each other in this topical area or we can acknowledge that our Master, our Lord, our redeemer, and certainly our 'loving heavenly father' is watchful and highly interested in how present we our bodies.
All of this silly rhetorical contention is given space because we try to apply "effect" as "cause".
Everything we DO reveals whatever we LOVE.
The DO stuff is just an indicator(manifestation) of the invisible secret STUFF --the motives that proceed from our own heart.
IMO....
A person is living in the capital of Crazyville if they think:
1. Outward appearances will save them.
or
2. Outward appearances do NOT extend from the heart.
