I may be of some assistance, as I speak a bit of Canadian myself. Yes, "favorite" is spelled with a "u". In fact, it's one of my fuvorite Canadian words.

Buy one of those stackers for the coals - - you'll get a perfect fire everytime.

You fill it with coals and underneath you wad up newspaper - - soak it all with lighter fluid, let it soak in good and light the newspaper - - the flame will go up and catch all the coals on fire - - when the flame goes down and the coals start to get white around the edges - dump them out in the grill and spread evenly.

Works great!
