Some seek to smugly make everything so simplistic and claim to have all the answers and solutions. *shakes head* In the end, we are probably coming to the same conclusions -- but your early responses were that the University didn't affect you at all. I'm sorry, but I'll speak for the scores of students that I've spoken with that it HAS affected. Not always in a negative way.... it's a fire, some burn out, some come out as gold (or at last copper! ha)
My argument may have more to do with your perspective than your answer.
My problem with your comments is that you seem to want to put everything on us, and not deny it's a battlefield.
But it is on us. If I want my kids to get through their teen years w/o using drugs, then I'd better equip them to deal with what they're going to be exposed to. If I want them to get through University with their foundation intact, then I'd better equip them to deal with what they're going to be exposed to. To place the responsibility for getting my kids to adulthood on someone else just doesn't make sense to me.

I haven't seen a unified Christian worldview.

I said this: "Why does it surprise anyone when the world teaches worldly ideas? I don't think that's the problem in any way. It's what the world does."

God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure gift. He got us out of the mess we're in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. ~Romans 3:24 from The Message
I feel like I'm stating what is most obvious, and yet the response is "we aren't doing enough or it wouldn't be a problem." Christ's time wasn't strangers to "higher learning", especially as promoted among the Greeks. Paul was exceptional at Mars Hill too. But the mass of Christians then didn't concern themselves with it.
I'm not saying it's not a problem. But it's no more of a problem than going out into the world anywhere else. I work fast food. I see it and hear it there as much as I do at school. We don't live in a bubble, no matter how much we'd like to. If we're not preparing our children, it is our problem.

More absurd was the a professor's worldview is see "no different than a preacher's preaching." Fundamental differences in worldview. That we are talking in terms of worldview is something most students don't get the advantage of. Learning is growing (growing pains sometimes ha) for sure...
I was saying that preachers have their own problems with their worldview, just as professors do. And they get it wrong too. And when they get it wrong, it's a big mess.

My point was, if anyone thinks they have trained up their children, sufficiently so they will "not depart from it", I can put them to the test!
I believe my children would do fine.

I am a firm believer in the Old Paths
Articles on such subjects as "The New Birth," will be accepted, whether they teach that the new birth takes place before baptism in water and Spirit, or that the new birth consists of baptism of water and Spirit. - THE PENTECOSTAL HERALD Dec. 1945
"It is doubtful if any Trinitarian Pentecostals have ever professed to believe in three gods, and Oneness Pentecostals should not claim that they do." - Daniel Segraves
Hmm. This could figure out to being free childcare. A break. And you do live just up the road. How serious are you about this offer?

Yes. Four boys, 18 to 29. Three of them are either exceptions to Proverbs 22:6 or proof that we failed in training them. Unless the "way they should go" is a lot more flexible than most Christians think!
Four fine sons, how wonderful! Our eldest daughter and husband have five
sons, 12, 14, 16, 23 and 25 1/2 yrs. All are very active in church. Learning
to be involved. The two oldest hold ministerial licenses. The oldest has been
married 5 1/2 yrs and just learned that they are going to be parents for the
first time. That means Falla will be a Great-grandmother the last of Jan.2010.
Husband and I are VERY excited about that.
We have 15 grandsons, and 5 granddaughters, all in church and love GOD!
Some are small and don't have the Holy Ghost yet but our 11 and 12 yr old
grandchildren and up all have received the Holy Ghost.
Bro. Timmy, I will tell you that we all must have the help of Almighty GOD
to raise our children. We did the best we could and somehow trusting God
for the rest, we have six adult children, married to their original spouses,
20 kids between them, (our grands) and all involved in the work of the Lord.
God has honored something in our lives as there is not a smoker, drinker, or
druggie in the bunch. They are hard workers, respectable citizens in our
community, and other blessings from Almighty God.
I am saying that God in our lives have made the difference. That 'training
up was not easy and we had our times. They are age 34-49 now and have
their own children. Now that they are parents, they understand the value
of "training up in the fear and admonition of the Lord". And we are standing
behind them in prayer and loving support of their families.

That's awesome! Hey, do you and your siblings ever have family reunions? Do you have to rent a convention center?
