Bernard, from his books that I have read, is very slick. He tries hard to make UPC doctrine seem like typical Christianity. To outside Christians he wants us to be accepted instead of being called a cult.
In one of his books I read I was reading and thinking man this is great stuff and then I get to the very last chapter and he has just a few paragraphs saying how we still have to have water baptism and speaking in tongues to be saved. To me that is a little deceptive.
Here is a debate between Bernard and a trinitarian preacher. At one point in the debate Bernard tries to say that the UPC worships the same God that the trinitarians do but they just have a different explanation. The trinitarian would not accept that and said that Bernard worshiped a different God.

Now, having seen this clip it makes me wonder. Would Bernard, after trying to convince the trinitarian that they do worship the same God, would he (Bernard) say that the man is saved? This seems a little slick to me. He wasn't mainstream Christianity to accept him but not the other way around.
I am not sure what clip it is but the debate is worth watching.
ROFL... "US" you and the "US" in reference to the UPC.... ROFL!! Sorry but you would be at home with Charismatic Baptists than UPCI.
Re: 10.01.09-The End of Haneywood - D. Bernard New
Interesting to see if Bernard will continue to talk out of both sides of his mouth.
Sometimes in his writings he takes the viewpoint regarding mainline Christianity as a whole: "Hey, we're NOT a cult! We're one of YOU!"
And other times he takes the position that his particular sub-brand of pentecostalism is THE church and everyone else is lost.
The two positions are mutually exclusive. Bernard has been slick enough to cater to one side or the other, knowing that general ignorance within the UPC ministry and laity meant the chances of his being caught were remote.
It will be interesting to see if the cons will let him continue to get away with this.
The cons got their blood sacrifice with Haney.
Unfortunately with jackals, once the blood starts flowing their appetites are insatiable.
Bernard got what he wanted.
Sometimes we get what we think we always wanted; and find out it's the last thing we wanted.
