I was working in Houston with a girl from Yonkers, NY. One day she was so mad and said, "That's all you Texas people ever say - I'm fixin' to go here and I'm fixin' to go there."
After that passionate outburst, I decided that I would ALWAYS say - "Fixin' to!"
I don't know what set her off. All I said was, "If you are going to live in Texas, it's 'blue jeans' not 'dungarees'. It's 'purse' and not 'pocketbook'."
