I say if you feel up to it, go for it! There are so many children who need homes, the fact that you want to provide for one is a beautiful thing.
I know several people in my church who have adopted in their mid to late thirties and I never thought a thing about it age wise. Most people in our society are waiting later to have children anyway!
There is actually a couple in our church who have 3 grown children and several grandchildren and several years ago decided to start taking in foster children. They take children with moderate disabilities. So far they have adopted 3 of these children, who would have had a difficult time finding homes because they have a few special needs. They seem to be doing wonderful, and these people are in their late 50's.
You know best what your situation is and if you feel capable of doing this, and if you feel like you are, I say, more power to you! I wish I felt capable of doing it, but life and circumstances have made me leery. I personally feel there is no greater thing than to give a child a chance for a happy life!
