I just realized something and the rest isn't directly to you misspresley, it's just your post kinda got me started thinkin...

Why are people so worried about what takes place on church property? Whats the difference with it taking place on church property and it taking place in the pastors back yard or any other saints for that matter?

In other words, is it really the property it's taking place on that is the problem, or is the fact that it is church sponsored dance what is really bothering yall? And if it being church sponsored is what is really bothering you, then why come up with all these reasons for why its a bad idea to do on church property instead of reasons of why it is a bad idea for the church to sponsor such a thing.

Re: Square Dancing at Church??

Psalms says we're to praise him in the dance....old testament, I know, but still.

I find it hard to believe that what we call 'shouting'.....is the dance.

Just how would someone praise God with a dance today?

Evidently, God doesn't dislike dancing...I just don't know how we would go about doing it. I know it wouldn't be a sensual thing.

I understand what you're saying. I guess I wouldn't want the church sponsoring a dance anywhere. What people do in their own personal lives is up to them, but as a church, I wouldn't want to sponsor one. Just like mixed swimming - we don't tell people they can't do it, but we don't ever do it as a church body, like at youth or kid's things. Better to avoid some things, IMO.

Re: Square Dancing at Church??

The problem with square dancing is you give the caller control over your actions. Evil, evil stuff. Here, see what I mean:

This is of course the very first thing I think about whenever I hear or see the word "square dance".

Come to think of it, a square dance could bring revival to your church because everyone has to do exactly as you say! (as long as it's done to good fiddling music!)

Grab your partner by the hand
bring them to the alter to stand
Take your hand and put under their chin
'till those tongues come rollin' in

dededede dedede dededede dedede

If that don't work put your hand on their head
sometimes this works best instead
Get in their ear and yell real loud
"Let Go!", "Hang on!" 'till their eardrums are wowed!

dededede dedede dededede dedede

Re: Square Dancing at Church??

I can just remember parts of it...

Dippy now one
dippy now two
dip now three
and dip now four,
Dip and dive across the floor,
and that'all be fine.

Home we go!
Whadda you find?
Chase a rabbit,
chase a coon,
Chase your honey all around that room!
...
can't remember it right.
