Grace and mercy has everything to do with it. If you can't show it, you won't get it. Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. When we, who have been forgiven so much, are not able to believe someone when he publicly repents, we're in trouble.
The specific words he spoke were words of sorrow, repentance, responsibility, and he completely took the blame. With all due respect, Rev., who in the world are you to determine if another person is sincere? He said, "I ask you to find it in your heart to believe in me again." As an passionate Follower of Jesus Christ, I enthusiastically say, "Absolutely."
None of us should be attempting to qualify his sincerity.
