Re: Anti-Pork??

As a rule, our family doesn't eat pork. Nothing to do with "religious" reasons and everything to do with how good it is for you. Not that I never will and I don't preach it to our church folks, simply a personal choice/conviction if you will.

Re: Anti-Pork??

I enjoy it... and would eat it more if it wasn't so expensive.

Several people in my extended family raised hogs... they are no worse than chickens for smell and filth, IMO, though free range chickens might be better. But they do smell awful!

I like crisp bacon, but do not eat it often.

Re: Anti-Pork??

I used to eat bacon daily but for some reason most of it just doesn't taste good anymore (believe it or not).... It seems to have lost much of its flavor and is usually not cooked enough -I like it downright crumbly, NOT chewy.
But, I DO like pork, in the smoked, slow cooked, pulled variety, completely drowning in Famous Dave's Devil Spit BBQ sauce!

I eat bacon or sausage when I eat a full breakfast... which is about once a month or less.

I enjoy ham at the holidays, that is about it. I used to cook a mean scalloped potatoes and ham dish, but that was back in the days when I cooked.... long, long ago, in a land far away.

What is funny is that plain old "ham" is by far my least favorite pork meat. I guess I just have too many memories of my polock family serving pink, rubbery, fatty ham at every single holiday meal.
